So I inoculated two grow bags back at the beginning of November. They were slow to colonize but a few weeks ago the mycelium had finally taken over at least 90% of both bags. I expected them to start pinning, but the pins never came! Now the bags have a lot of condensation inside of them and it looks like the mycelium is retreating or something. Theyve been kept at a steady temp. of about 70 degrees. Is there anything I can do, or should I just try again in the spring?

Do you give them air exchange?

Yes, they do get air exchange. They've been kept in an open box.

Mycelium usually retreats from the 1/2 pint jar sides I use for my cube cakes when I let the mycelium age longer than usual (defer birthing process until a better time for my schedule). My understanding is the mycelium will pull away from the sides of its container because it has fully devoured all available substrate. I've never had a problem with fruiting these cakes (once I fully followed the experts pinning strategy instructions). Perhaps you should birth your big bag into a fruiting chamber. Take matters into your own hands, so to speak, as opposed to leaving everything up to the bag.

Cool. Big Red, can you point me to a good link for building a fruiting chamber? I'm a first time grower and the bags were from The Mad Season.
