I imagine the vanilla flavoring is nothing more than a hydrocarbon. It shouldn't do any harm since basically all the flavoring would just be hydrogen and carbon. Almost all synthetic flavors are hydrocarbons. I really can't seen how it could harm anything. It wouldn't shock me if regular karos has hydrocarbons in it as flavor enhancers to keep a continuity of flavor between batches. If it has real vanilla beans in it you might want to think twice. Same goes for vanilla oils.
You might as well try it. You only need a small amount off a spore syringe to make an LC. So it's worth the try.
Honey has way weirder shit floating in it and people (myself included) use it all the time.

Vanilla extract is up to 35% alcohol. That's not exactly what you want added to your karo.

So use something else like organic honey? Potato dextrose? Light malt extract? organic Sugar?

I pretty sure that most corn syrup these days has vanilla in it. I saw some dollar store corn syrup that says the same thing. I'm not saying they both work the same, because true karo has never failed me.

Yea, and these silly assed karo and sugar based LCs are ten times slower than using proper procedures. I can't believe people are still wasting their time on them. It's ridiculous. There's far better nutrient solutions to use, if one is intent on using liquid culture.

you can find malt and dextrose at any beer brewing shop
i use 1 tsp of each to 500 ml water
works like a charm and it is way faster than honey or karo
