Weird experience today
    #9381620 - 12/06/08 08:49 PM (15 years, 2 months ago)

So I was trying to sleep in the passenger seat of a parked car today. About when I got to a hypnogogic state I started hearing two voices talking to eachother. It sounded like they were both directly behind me in the back seat conversing. After what seemed like a minute or two of this, I felt an intense impact on my face like someone threw a big rubber ball at my head. There was no pain, but I felt an intense push like an impact, and my face went numb for a few seconds, and then it tingles pretty intensely a few seconds after that, just like it would if you get hit by a big rubber ball pretty hard (I'm repeating myself I know). Right after this, it sounded like the two voices were over my shoulder laughing at me. I remember distinctly hearing a girls laugh, and a guy chuckling. Then it seemed like they were talking about me and snickering.

When they were in the back seat I thought I recognized the voices as two of my friends (who are currently alive), but after the impact I realized I had no idea who the voices were.

I thought all this was just a weird hypnogogic hallucination for a while, till I started thinking about it. It just as likely could be a big hallucination, but maybe it's something else. I don't know. What do you think?

Also I saw an intense comet tonight when driving on the highway in SLC.

waking dream,
rapid dmt release,
shift in nonlocal perception,
change in pressure,

?

plenty of ideas but not sure. for me the world is getting a weirder place more and more each day. strange experiences come to me when i least expect them. 11:11 has appeared a couple of times in the past days. it always gives me a very subtle wtf, yet at the same time i don't feel to be all too suprised when strange makes itself no more a stranger.

I have these sorts of experiences all the time. The last one, I was falling from a great height then my head SLAMMED and sounded like it cracked open but I felt no pain, and a commentator's voice goes, "And there goes Johnny Depp".

If things are getting weirder like this on a daily basis it's a good thing. The universe, I think, is there as a kind of toy, and its evolving, and there's new secrets, new paths, new strange aspects that it wants you to find.

Yeah that's sort of similar I guess, but this wasn't a full on dream it was a hypnogogic state. I was still aware of my body and my surroundings but I could vividly visualize things and my brains thought process was at a faster rate. Basically the state right before you enter dreaming.

And the voices didn't seem impersonal or anything, and I could never focus closely enough to hear exactly what they were saying.

I have had two similar occurrences. Once, I was laying on my couch watching TV and I had drifted into sleep and it suddenly felt like someone jumped on me. No pain or anything, just like you said. It just felt like someone used their whole body weight to push me into the couch. The second case, I was sleeping in bed and I had a weird dream that I was in a bed that was in the middle of what seemed to be a huge dark amphitheater. The outer perimeter was dark and foggy and there was very minimal light around the bed. All of a sudden I had a feeling that something was coming at me and I had the same sudden feeling of being jumped on or pushed into the mattress. In both instances I could not wake up. I had what some have called sleep paralysis. I was totally frozen and was struggling to wake up. Also after both occurrences I was scared shit-less for about two days.

Its interesting how when we go into the dream state the reality of it all is accepted and at that time its as real as what we consider reality to be now.  Makes you wonder how many other levels of waking up there could be.

I get many strange things like this - never felt like a rubber ball has hit me though!  The laughing of the people is consistent of the way a dream evolves, a semi-conscious idea can change the direction of the dream.

I agree. I have studied some Buddhist texts over the past 8 years or so. I think they have been cognizant of this fact for thousands of years, but westerners have not. I also frequently experience "people" in my presence while I am asleep. One time I had a dream that there was someone in my kitchen and suddenly I woke up. I could still hear water running, so I went to the kitchen and the sink was on full blast. My wife didn't even wake up. I swear this to be true. I have never experienced a ghost or first hand paranormal situations, but I feel this could be close. This is a super interesting thread, I wish more people would participate!

awesome thread!
I once awoke to the sound of the kitchen tap which when caught in hypnagogia sounded as if you'd imagine reality in wireframe, sound wise. finally oriented myself and in deductive steps realised the kitchen tap was the source and seemingly quite causally the place holder:ish sound morphed into the full textured, full featured "real" sound. seemed like proof of the.. "holographic" reality-model. cool experience albeit makes a boring story (:

about commentator voices, I oftenly get those. often fitting or amusingly misfitting to my situation (like fill-the-speech-bubble jokes). sometimes clumsily worded insights. such as this one I wrote down: "hands come from ideas; ideas don't come from hands!" dictated by some witty manlyman voice.

wish I had less boring stories (:

I don't find your story boring at all! Actually it is always fascinating to hear other peoples' experiences with other-worldy events. Your points are great! I wish more people would join in on this thread, it is really a fun topic.
