Where do you find motivation?

There are things around me and I say "Damn, I need to get that done". But I just don't. Inside I want to, but something is stopping me.

I want to work on my music more often, and be creative in general more often, but I never find the motivation to do it.

Where do you get your motivation from? is there anything you do to increase it?

I find this post fundamentally flawed. What, specifically, is stopping you from getting things done?

You'll only get out there and do things if you want to. There is no magic pill or technique that makes getting off your ass any easier.

If you have something to do, just do it. It's as easy as that.

Sometimes (often times for some people, including myself) people get really good at talking themselves out of things. Once you begin to rationalize your laziness or whatever you begin to go down a slippery slope. The things you see that need to be done become easier and easier to put on the backburner.

Most of my motivation comes from extra-dimensional spirit beings that lay down the law and STRONGLY ENCOURAGE (to the tune of bugging me until I do) me to get done, what I need to get done.

I just get my body in place, and that's it.

There is some mental block for me. I feel fucking lazy for it. I need a kick in the ass to get me going haha.

Thanks, that is more of the response I was looking for. I agree, I do talk myself out of doing things. I think I work on a basis of value. If something is not of high value in my personal perspective, I do not bother.

My motivation comes from, if I don,t do it it will not get done,
if I,m stoned I could talk myself out of anything except breathing.

I've just always had an unstoppable drive to accomplish whatever I want to do. :shrug:

I didn't realize people had to rely on outside motivation until high school.

It comes from the fact that I have goals for myself which will not be accomplished by inaction.

I thought it was intrinsic. I never questioned my willpower's ultimate source, if there is one.

Well, there are obviously different levels of this force, or drive. Mine being a bit weak at this exact moment. So, if there is variance in the amount of drive something must be behind it. IMO.

I'm not sure. Either you want to do something, or you don't. It's a question of priorities, really. If you're just sitting around not doing things you want to do, it's clear that you prefer sitting around to doing those things--either because it's easier not to do them, more fun doing nothing, or because you really hate whatever it is that you're supposed to do.

You're trying to find something missing within you that will give you back willpower, when instead IMO you have the willpower all along. It's just a question as to what you're using your willpower for; in this case, you prefer not to be productive and you're using your willpower to make sure the situation stays that way.

There is no magic solution here--just start doing whatever it is that you should do. This tactic to overcoming procrastination is very similar to the general advice giving by smokers on how to quit: if you don't want to quit, nothing can quit it for you. It simply gets easier and easier to adjust your priorities if you stop making rationalizations and just do it.

I think change is the driving force. The reason anything ever happens. The desire to perpetuate that force in some way seems to be inherent in every(thing)one. The reason we are attracted to progression and originality.

This works, but your own hate towards the others or yourself helps too.

I usually tell myself how pathetic it is just not doing what I should do. Then think about my mistakes. You know, like kicking yourself.
