Weird light source

So before I describe the story, I'll start off with saying I am highly speculative that what I saw was really anything out of the ordinary, or just my eyes playing tricks. But I'll also say that I've never claimed to see UFOs before, or had any sort of paranormal encounter.
So the other day I decided to drive up the mountain to smoke a bowl and think about some things that had been bothering me recently. There is a nice scenic overlook that I parked at that looks out over the city and the plains out to the east. After I got a little baked, I had the weirdest idea pass through my head. I saw, out on the horizon, to tall flashing radio towers side by side. I looked at them for a long time....and I thought to myself "Ya know...if I really wanted to, I could just drive out to those towers right now. No one would stop me."
And so.....I did! Turns out they were about 40 miles away, and I had no idea how to really get there, aside from following land marks and just looking for them in the distance.
As I got closer, I started wondering why the hell I was even doing this. Was I trying to prove something to myself...or was I being drawn by some outside force. After about an hour of driving, I was driving along this dirt road adjacent to the radio towers (they were only about 1000 feet from me now). I look out my drivers window and see an incredibly bright yellow light in the sky...maybe 2 and a half hand-widths above the horizon line. This light was many times brighter than Venus (I know it wasn't Venus because Venus was up in the southern sky, I was looking north), it was also larger in size. It didn't seem to move at all, but it "glowed" in the sense that it would fluctuate in brightness just a tiny bit. I almost pulled my car over to stop and look at it, but I kept driving. After about 30 seconds it was still there, hadn't moved...but it went out of view for a moment when I drove next to a building. When I came out the other side....the light was gone.
Now...I normally think pretty rationally. My first thoughts were to try to figure out a way to justify what I saw. I know airplanes can have rather bright head lights if they are flying straight at you. But if it was an airplane I would have seen it moving. I thought it could have been a meteor/impactor of some sort...but again, that would have been a flash or a streak, not a steady light source. The only "rational" thing I can think of is that the light was reflecting off of some object either in the atmosphere or in orbit. I can't think of many objects that can be held stationary in the atmosphere....possibly a weather balloon. And most things that orbit move pretty fast as well, I've seen the ISS go by many times and that thing freakin hauls. My last guess is a supernova....which, if thats what it was, thats totally bad ass.
So...thats pretty much it. All I can say is I saw something in the sky that I can't explain...plus the circumstances under which I saw it make me question it even further. Hope you didn't think the story was too dull.
Edit: Oh and to sum up the story, I did end up driving right up to the gates of the radio tower. Those things look huge when you stand right under them!! Read all the "warning" signs and walked around the fenced area.....I guess it was kinda cool, then I drove back home.

Sometimes things that are moving can appear to not be moving because of the angles/distance etc.

Yeah...true. Doesn't really explain how bright it was, or how it simply disappeared.
Just leaves me curious.

Did it by any chance look like a star that was just wayy too close to the surface? Sometimes I see these lights that are really really close, and clouds form in spherical patterns around them, I know for a fact that they are UFO's because they contact me when I smoke weed or take psychedelics. More importantly, if it looked sort of like a five dimensional thing, like reality was being created around them by the mere act of observation.

I've only seen a UFO once, and boy, it was a great experience. I saw it off in the distance in my backyard in the daytime. It was a clear blue sky and the object I saw was metallic in color, like silver. It just stayed where it was as I stared at it, and then it zipped away to the left at a near impossible speed. I never saw one since then, but I would like to see one again. It was breathtaking.
I've never been a skeptic, but after seeing one, it really brought me to learning as much as I can about them.

Well I suppose you could say that it looked "wavy". It was shining through the clouds, so that is what I attribute it to. Light refracting off of water in the air.
What do you mean by "spherical patterns"? Like you've seen clouds swirling around a light source? Perhaps you could describe in greater detail the UFO's you believe you've seen.
I wish I had gotten out of my car to take a closer look at it, maybe I would have seen it disappear and it would have given me another clue as to what it was. I hope it doesn't take another 21 years of my life to see something similar again.

I've seen many things that I can't explain. Unfortunately you will probably never know exactly what you saw.
I've seen stationary stars decide to take off at 3am. I've seen giant red balls moving around the sky. I even stood very close to a big metallic saucer that looked like it had come straight out of a film.
If you want to see more I suggest doing sky watches. Theres a lot of strange stuff happening up there, all the the time. I've had many friends mock me when I tell them of my experiences and I have had them converted into believing me within a couple of weeks of skywatching with me.
Most people simply don't watch the sky much and live in areas of high light pollution so they don't realise how much activity there is.

I should try that with my friends, I only hope I see more of these unexplainable things. It would be nice to share the sight with another. Most of my friends mock me as well except for one other.
How long do you look at the sky for when you skywatch?

It depends on your mood really. I've laid there in the summer watching it for hours just talking with friends.
