Very cool... homemade knives. They look great... a while back I became interested in the subject, and tried several times to get into a basic knifemaking course being held at the local community college, but each time, it was booked full, and I've become a bit too busy since. It looks like a good hobby.... alot of work, but worthwhile.

basic knifemaking can be done quite easily in a home workshop/garage, without the need for too many tools. of course, some tools make the work far easier, but i can get a piece of steel stock cut into a knife sized bar on my table saw, ground to the profile on a bench grinder, bevels ground in on a cheap disk sander, surfaces ground smooth with the same sander and hardening done in a simple charcoal forge i made from coffee cans and some mud in a couple of hours. quench done in a can of motor oil and tempering in a kitchen oven takes another couple of hours [passively], and a good, basic hardwood handle pinned and glued on, then shaped on the grinder and hand finished in a further couple of hours.
it's the sort of thing that can be done in a little spare time over a couple of days, and the basics are easy. getting fancy is a different story, i don't think i'll ever be done learning to do that
for a small blade, heating for the hardening can even be done with a mapp torch or weed dragon.

I used to have a knife which was very similar to this, but I don't know where it went. The teeth were a bit more pronounced, and did not run the length of the blade. It had a compass at the end of the handle, which unscrewed to open a little compartment. Inside was a kit of fishing line, waterproof matches, hooks, and a few other bits and bobs. Blade was at least 8", and the sheath had a little pocket for the whetting stone.

Very nice Buck knife. Here are some of my others blades...
A Gurka Kukri Knife, with the two smaller skinning knives.

the Spyderco 'Police' blade...

and a Swiss Bayonet for a SIG STGw57 Rifle. 9.5 inch blade, 14.5 inches overall.

Here are two different Kalashnikov Bayonets on my Kalashnikov. The first one is North Korean military, and the second one is Bulgarian.

I hope the photos work.... I haven't yet edited the photos I have of my 1942 dated M1 Garand Bayonet, or my German K98 Bayonet... or my several other Kalashnikov Bayonets from various countries. I also need to get a photo of my Buck knife.

First post for me! This has been my favorite carry knife; under $35 too. Made by Boker, called Kalishnikov.

This knife has to be earned. I never use it, it will become a family heirloom. If any of you know what it is I will be very impressed.

I carry one of these in my pocket at all times. It has become a habit like the cellphone and wallet for two years now since CA is really lame with CCW laws.

lol that's a piece of crap, and you way overpaid for it.
infinity money says that thing's a piece of crap 420 stainless made in china that's not even worth 5 bucks.
you shoulda checked out my thread in the marketplace, at least i'm selling some knives that are respectable and at 1/3 the cost.
the most you should've paid for that knife is 10 dollars, even though i wouldn't buy it for 1.

440a (440c is the best out of 440) is not much better than 420j, but better nonetheless.
