I feel you on the safety, I was the same way years ago and I didn't feel comfortable not having one. Now it's just another step that I don't need in defending myself in a stressful situation.
As far as the Glock factory triggers, they're hit and miss. You can buy 5 of the same Glocks and one will most likely have a better trigger if you shoot them enough to tell the difference in the creep, break and reset.
I mostly carried Sigs because of their crisp trigger and short reset but eventually went to Glock for their weight and size. My most pretty, expensive guns sit in the safe while I carry a $500 Glock with nothing more than upgrading the trigger to 3lbs and fiber optic tritium night sights.

What's your 'most pretty, expensive guns'?

Handguns would be my Sigs p226 p229 elite and my kimber eclipse. I Don't own too many handguns but I carry my ugliest, least expensive besides a couple. .22's .25's .380's I have because it's a more practicable carry gun imo.

I'm currently wandering the market for a S&W model 41 .22 target pistol. I can't decide on the 5 or 7" barrel or even the performance center version. This would be a great plinker to train my daughter with and it's a high end .22lr
Either way one will be in my possession shortly.

The only DE I've ever owned was an IMI DE .50AE that I sold to my pops. Shit was bad ass. We shot it this summer and put a target on small trees on his friends property and 14 rounds took the tree out.

Iโve never had the honor of shooting one of the full size DE.
I did get to shoot my buddiesโ Super Redhawk in .454 Casul. What a monster!!
A .45 magnum round as long as your thumb. Sounds like a grenade when someone pulls the trigger.

I've had the pleasure. First time I shot a gun in a good decade and I pull this off after dialing in:

It's a fine gun alright.

Was unaware this became a post your gun thread. Not that that's a bad thing, but Here's some more blades to remind us why we're here. You'll just have to deal with my potato camera

This particular one has the words "DONT KICK EM, HIT EM" inscribed on the side of it, and belonged to my late grandmother. And "hit em" she did. My stepgrandfather got very familiar with it after she walloped him over the dome with it. He ended up getting staples to fix the wound. I couldn't tell you why, it was before my time.

That looks pretty dope. Has it ever messed up in any way?
Speaking of sluggers I had this completely impractical contraption awhile back. Itโs a single shot, you can switch out the barrels. The one I had shot 45.70govt bullets which is entirely retarded but still pretty cool.

I didnโt have a scope on mine because they were better suited for rifles imo..

Iโve never had a single jam or miss fire. This piece is pretty much a CZ clone assembled by IMI in Israel from parts machined in Italy by Tangfolio.
I donโt think they are made this way any longer.
That think is a hauss. Is it a Thompson Center?

A RESPECTFUL APPROXIMATION OF CHOJI OIL
In maintaining a Daishล of Katana - Wakizashi - Tanto the Japanese use a weapon oil called Choji oil. This Choji oil often comes in little bottles for big prices, and it of course matters which family made the blade and which family made the oil but - for less traditional people lacking the precise nuances that come with maintaining a Daisho properly, or who own swords not of Japan or blades of other types entirely, Choji oil is alluring but, rather costly, and in many cases overshoots the mark, perhaps like pouring champagne into a styrofoam cup.
So, an alternative to Choji oil.
Choji oil is best defined as mineral oil containing 1/100 to 1/10 of its volume of essential oil of cloves.
One should strive for perfection in the details in important matters, so the oil base is best procured as pharmaceutical (human or veterinary) grade liquid paraffin. Essential oil of cloves, likewise, is readily obtained, so combining the two in proper proportion (1-10%) in essence would produce a passable substitute for Choji oil.
Go beyond the generic, however.
Since you're making homemade Choji oil, it should be "of the house", in other words, distinctive.
Since you will be making the oil for maintaining the blades of your family, which includes kitchen knives (hence, pharmaceutical grade paraffin oil - honor your blade and yourself with the finest ingredients, foodgrade and up) it needs a bit more than the combination of liquid paraffin and clove oil.
Is there a flower in particular, that has relevance to you or your family? If so, add a fraction of the essential oils of these flowers relative to the clove oil, so that the clove oil remains the main additive to the carrier oil, which is the liquid paraffin.
If there are very specific flowers you wish to include (such as one of a wedding bouquet, flowers from the family garden or even, a flower from the casket of a deceased relative) one can soak the flower whole in the paraffin for a week in the dark to extract its essence into the paraffin, then retrieve the flower and add the clove oil and minor essential oil additives to complete the Choji oil.
Choji Oil must be kept in glass, pottery or metal, in the dark, in a cool place of stable temperature, such as a basement, and should have an indefinite shelf life that way.
Make sure to not use essential oils that stain, and if the Choji Oil is to be used for weaponry with precision moving parts, such as firearms, make sure that your process of manufacture doesn't taint the oil with small particles, for smooth operation.
When a Katana or Wakizashi is drawn, there is a faint, unique fragrance that is released, sharpening the senses, which to the warrior wielding the weapon is an important sensory cue. This is afforded by the odorific components of the Choji oil, and is a true delight in weapons handling.
In addition, the clove oil acts as a local anesthetic so that the choji oil not just honors the sword and the one wielding it, but also honors the flesh of the opponent which it severs. Honorable behavior goes in al directions, so make sure to honor your Choji oil, itself, by making it the finest you can make it.
Most people the world over never oil their blades, with properly made Choji oil, at least your eye and nose will appreciate the gesture, and with a refined scent of personal significance, it will add reward to the task of maintaining your blades.
