Asante said: My latest acquisition is a simple cheap knife I'm nonetheless quite happy with, its the Cold Steel Tanto Lite:

Even as a teen I wanted a tanto knife, one of the samurai trinity of Katana/Wakizashi/Tanto.
I have a Wakizashi, though nit quite happy with it anymore, and now a Tanto.
This tanto is the "affordable" variant of their Master Tanto, a formidable knife:
It also carries a formidable price tag though - whereas this is a $20 item, the Master Tanto is a $200 item.
It gives one a good idea what one would be getting though, and I must say I';m quite fond of this Tanto Lite. For its price its a bargain. Its metal is 4116 Krupp stainless steel, the same steel the top chef's knices brand Wusthof makes its lower end knives of.
One youtube reviewer joked that a Japanese Tanto made from Kruppstahl was sort of an axis powers co-op, but its of corse an American blade, made in Taiwan.
That couldn't last
The Tanto Lite hit me right in the feels and I just had to drop some cash on a Cold Steel Master Tanto in San Mai VG10 steel [product code 35AB] which I could secure new in an overseas buy for more than 100 bucks cheaper than the EU domestic catalogue price.

The vid in the quote shows what the blade can do in stress tests, here's a charming review from someone showing off the same knife after 20 years of outdoors use as a main survival knife:
The guy SERIOUSLY needs to learn how to sharpen a knife but after 20 years of use, not at all bad. I love products built to last a lifetime.
Its me being a big kid my Fallkniven F1 is excellent for just about any practical use and for things like batonning wood its downright superior, but in the late 80s I coveted this knife as a teenager and now it will be mine.

I've been trying to resist the urge to buy a knife I actually had when I was a kid but lost along the way. It is only about $20 more than a new Bear and Son but I still haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Beautiful Balisong, looks well made.
They're illegal in my country now, or I'd have one. I loved those as a kid.

I had that exact same one when I was a kid. They don't make it anymore.
I messed around and ordered it. They say it will arrive Monday.
I'm not very good but I like flipping them around.

Check out the benchmade bali’s. I still haven’t bit the bullet and gotten one but they’re on my radar still. Hella beautiful.

They look very nice but quite pricey.
I would like to handle one. I bet it is one of those things where when you fondle it you know where the money went.
There's a knife store here around the corner that carries them I might stop in there and feel one up.

I'm still sporting my 940.
I noticed a weed or so ago that a little corrosion was forming on the blade around the thumb stud so I took it off and polished it up.

I'm still sporting mine as well. I've used the shit out of it at work and it still has a decent edge. My coworkers sometimes ask if I have a knife and I'm like yeah, but you need to find you a box cutter lol.
I let one female coworker use it to cut some white lightning and she cut through it and was striking the blade on metal lol.

I used to carry a Puma and one of my Amigo co-workers asked to borrow my knife 'cause everyone knows if I have my pants on I've got a knife in my pocket.
I walked over to see what he was doing with it and he was unscrewing a screw with the tip. I was like "Motherfucker! You need a screwdriver not my knife!" The tip was bent and it never was the same after he got done with it...

The old Puma I used to carry.

I've had this Smith and Wesson automatic for a very long time. Lots of fun!

Bayonet for my AK. My Arsenal has an AK-74 style muzzle brake so it is actually a 74 bayonet.

That bayonet looks nasty. I don't think I'll ever personally buy a neutered ak or variant unless it's a very good deal. I'd much rather spend more money and have one the way they were originally designed.
I wonder how many people have actually been murdered in the U.S. by and empty AK only using it's bayonet. I bet neutering those AK's saved countless lives.

Finished this one about a month ago, I’m still waiting on a buddy to finish the sheath for it. 1/4” thick 1095 carbon steel.
