"God bless america"
    #9479311 - 12/22/08 06:26 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

So I was just watching George Carlin and a joke gave me an idea. His point was 'wtf does god bless america mean' and at one point he said something along the line of 'Jesus would fucking say, "god bless everyone"'

Which led me to think.

(the topic was on bumper stickers)

I wonder what a christian would do if you 'vandalize' their bumper sticker that says god bless america by crossing out america and replacing it with everyone. How could they disagree with that? What does that say about them by taking it off? I don't mean to be targeting christians, I'm sure many (maybe most?) would get the point and perhaps even leave it, but still. I think that says something.

Just wanted to share that thought.

Mmm. Good thought.

I'm gonna start doing this on my dollar bills...so if you get one like that written in black sharpie ya know it was me!

Edit: Fuck, I'm dumb. It doesn't say God Bless America on dollar bills.

Haha, a lot of close stuff. In God We Trust. United States Of America. But no God Bless America.

To be honest, I'm surprised!

I wouldn't see a problem with it. However I'd be annoyed if somebody vandalized a bumper sticker I payed for with shoddy writing.

I see a ton of cars with the bumper stickers that say "God Bless The Whole World -- No Exceptions"

But I live in a pretty liberal town.

When I was young and militant I wanted to get some paint and a stencil that said "I Support Osama Bin Laden w/ My SUV" and hit up the people with Hummers in my neighborhood.

If the garden variety fundie scriptural christian could sport a bumper sticker in harmony with hir beliefs, it would likely read- "God bless America, with exception to the gays, non-christian religionists, atheists and agnostics, gnostic and liberal christians, illicit drug users, scientists, and everyone else who corrupts our children by blasphemy in God's creation.  Please disable thinking faculties, attend, and donate generously to your local denomination. Amen."

What you don't have those bumper stickers in your town?  I've seen some very similar to that when passing through Texas !
