And recovering from yesterday's game.

This Sundays game is going to be great.

And did anyone watch this game, like actually watch the entire thing or are you cockgoblins going off of Sportscenter highlights?

Yes, Cutler throws interceptions, he also completes passes that only a few can.  Did you see he ran for two touchdowns?  Did you see him scramble on third-downs to get first downs?  Did you see the last past to Stokely in the end zone that Stokely had knocked out of his hands?  Great pass.

And yes, the interception late in the game in the redzone was killer, I won't deny that it wasn't.

You guys will be firmly attaching your chins to my nutsack next year when we have 5 top-quality healthy runningbacks!

Come on, 5-6 runningbacks on IR and another one injured yesterday!  We had absolutely no running game to speak of whatsoever and Cutler was still making drives.

whattheheck, what does Cutler's backwards hat have to do with anything?  And his complaining?  How about helmet radio that didn't work properly?  Or how about the pass interference that was called and then renegged on after it was decided the running back was behind the line of scrimmage, when he wasn't?

And redstorm, I love you, but your argument in a previous thread was that pro-bowl selections are based off of stats.  Obviously not!  :smirk:

And I don't appreciate being called a homer for liking the Broncos because all you are homers for your own teams.

And zappa, you're a baseball fag, get the fuck outta here!

Niggers.

The pass to Stokley was NOT a great pass, this is what I am talking about with Cutler. If you look closely, and there were a large group of us watching the game here that saw it on the replays, Stokely was running a slight curl route, you can CLEARLY see him beginning to stutter step and turn in left (where there were NO defenders) when he sees the ball floating back right (where there were TWO defenders) and made a GREAT attempt to catch a HORRIBLE pass. And he manned up and said "I need to catch that".

The FACT is that Cutler does this all the time and the average guy won't pick up on it unless it's pointed out. I've watched a LOT of this guy, and he does this all the time. If he doesn't float the ball back/right and gets it ANYWHERE near Stokely on the mini-curl he was running (which was the RIGHT call as they had left that area open to protect the corners and back of the endzone) they score.

I know it's hard to face these facts, but if he doesn't improve, he will become nothing more then a modern day Jeff George, if he's lucky. Look up that guys stats and he had at least as much of an arm as JC.

And yeah, I watched the game. Get your homer on man, I'm trying. I was big on Cutler long before the Broncos drafted him, but PT, you gotta see where he's at. Can he develop? Sure. Will he? I thought he would have more by this point.

What are they based on, if not stats? I suppose you could argue wins or team quality, but you can't in this case.

Also, you can't argue on wins with Cutler either, since he's no better than Rivers in that regard either. You're up a creek without a paddle trying to argue that Cutler is a better pro bowl starter than Rivers. It's not even close.

I thought you were a homer for the Packers?  Lions?  I swear I remember you rambling on about Brett Favre.

And I was pointing out the irony that you said vote selections are supposedly based on stats, when they're really not, not totally.  I mean, how do you vote for an o-lineman, number of sacks he didn't give up?  Number of people he pancaked to the turf? Number of knees he blew out due to chop-blocks? How do you tally that shit?

Mark my words, well, not really MY words, but the consensus of a multitude of NFL analysts: give Cutler a consistent running game Denver is most famous for and he will when MVP.

Did you watch the opening night game against the Raiders, when the Broncos were healthy at RB and without Marshall?

Granted, it was the Raiders and opening week, but yeah, that's what I'M talking about.

Don't get me wrong. I think Cutler will be a great QB. If there's a QB I would put money on in the future, it would either be him or Ryan.

All I'm saying is that there's more deserving AFC QB's this year.

Does the outcome of this upcoming game affect your opinion at all?  What if Cutler has a big game and the Broncos get into the playoffs?

It's not going to happen if he keeps making the mistakes that he makes and throws so many hard to catch balls. NFL coaches can, will, and already are capitalizing on his weaknesses. He MUST start putting the ball in a better spot. NFL wide receivers, especially those like Marshall, can make you look good. But they will never be consistant until he starts putting the ball where it needs to be.

Jay's the young gunslinger who makes busted plays give you a woody when he pulls it off, but that won't win you a title. Besides, he's a pee-wee in that department when it comes to guys like Barry Sanders and Mike Vick.

We also need to address the fact that he plays in one of the hardest places for road teams to play at, AND his division sucks.

As far as the "give him and all pro running back and he'll look great", well, I should hope so. An all pro running back and wide receiver and you're a top 10 pick QB and you can't deliver the goods? There's one word for that. BUST.

I'm hoping this will not be the case, but let's watch this game Sunday, and keep your eyes open for what I'm talking about.

I didn't say all-pro RB.  I said top-quality.

Meaning someone who fits into the Broncos scheme and can pick up yardage and stays healthy.  Broncos offense relies on mis-direction for a lot of it's passing.  It's a full circle, good running game, opens up bootlegs, fake handoffs, quick slants to Marshall and Stokely while Royal sprints down the field.  When the passing game gets going you must account for that, not even mentioned Scheffler and Graham running down the middle of the field, and thus the running game opens up, especially handoff draws from the shotgun position, quick counters and the standard one-cut up field and turn on the burners plays which the Broncos created.

If we had a healthy running game, this entire thread would not have been created, 's all I'm saying.

Two words, Terrell Davis.

Yeah, he's a fullback.  Imagine him and a healthy RB in the backfield.  You ain't gonna no what to expect from that offense!

I hear you on all of that. The RB thing has been, in a world that uses hyperbole WAY too much, truly bizzare.

The D is a joke though, not much to be done there but spend a lot of cash. Hopefully Champ will be able to get back up on his horse here soon.

They lost.  At home.  To the fucking Buffalo Bills.  They scored enough points.  They had over 530 yards to the Bills' 275.  They punted zero times.  They turned the ball over just twice, which is not bad.  Their running backs aren't the problem.  Their gonads are.

At least they have a guy that can sell them a decent phone.

But, to add to the conversation. The pro-bowl is a popularity contest before anything else. Rivers didnt make it because people dont like loud rednecks. Look at Favre. His stats are shit and he made it. I think Rivers and Cutler should have made it over Favre.

The Broncos problem is that their red zone offense has blown the past few weeks. They put up 500 + yards but cant cap any of those yards with TDs.

This makes for an exciting game but doesnt say much about either team.

They rushed for 181 yards in 27 plays, for a 6.7 yard per carry average.  They had the lead for most of the game, 13-0 early then 20-16 after 3 Qtrs.  They almost doubled the Bills in yards from scrimmage.  They didn't have to punt one time.  7/14 on 3rd down.  Running backs on IR wasn't the problem.  Clearly.  What a stupid whine.

Man, if I wasn't feeling so good, I would agree with you, but it's going to be a SICK game, one that will go down in both franchises history's, especially if it's a good game and/or San Diego wins.

I haven't been this pumped for a game in a while. I was happy for my childhood loves (Da Bears) to make it to the Super Bowl, but I really felt they had little chance. I WANTED to believe they did, but that team has torn my heart out for 23 years.

But this??
