My first pin!

I've been working on this project for close to 2 months now. Quite a few fook ups/set backs. But finally I got my first pin. I had just cased this tub about 3 days ago, I had the air holes packed tight with polyfill, just sitting on a shelf waiting for it to pop through the casing.
One little pinhead decides to pop up in the corner. I went ahead and opened it to fruiting conditions now. Took out the polyfill and replaced it with very very loose polyfill and set it on a table with a fan nearby.

It's the only pin I can see in that tub unless there's more buried under the casing.
Update:
3 hours:

11 hours

20 hours

33 hours

Some cakes (coir, grains, coffee) started pinning invitro, I wasn't planning on fruiting these alone, but wtf, so I dunked, added a bit of casing mix and stuck in my monotub.

A second pin appears!

44 hours

it was determined my monotub was starting to dry out, so I began misting at this point.
Day 3 afternoon

Day 3 - Evening
3 more pins appeared over the last few hours! And the cakes each have 1-2 pins going on.

Day 4:

Day 5:

Tub has 30-35 that I can see (some side pinning growing the wrong way, etc.) plus the lil cakes.

I've got a pin or two on one of my tiny 1/4 pint cakes made up of bulk sub / grains. I don't expect it to do anything spectacular.
It started to pin invitro so I just stuck it in with monotub, it's best I got in the way of a fc.

I'm gonna order a green house to use as an FC next month though, I found this for $40 /w shipping.

More pics!
He's looking nice and fat and rather phallic.

Quote:
The cultivated mushroom as well as the common field mushroom initially form a minute fruiting body, referred to as the pin stage because of their small size. Slightly expanded they are called buttons, once again because of the relative size and shape. Once such stages are formed, the mushroom can rapidly pull in water from its mycelium and expand, mainly by inflating preformed cells that took several days to form in the primordia.
Can anybody else think of something that 'inflates' in order to spread reproductive cells/seeds?!
Got a second pin on the other side of the tub, I was looking closely but this one came up from under the verm, sneaky bastard!

Pic is kinda blurry, but I will get better later.
The little cake in there is busy too.

Lots of primordia all over it too, I think it may end up having a ton of miniature shrooms.
I dunked 3 of those minicakes then put em into a ghetto fc. 2 quart tub with air holes. 3 layers of damp papertowel under them with some casing mix sprinkled in and everything dampened. I keep the lid slightly off with a oscillating fan in the room on low.
Also got a humidifier running to keep humidity in the room decent. RH in my house was down to 20% till I broke out the humidifiers. I'm keeping the 'shroom room at around 50-55%. Don't want mold to start growing, but don't want my tubs drying out either.

Is that pattern on the top/tip normal?

He looks happy at around 2 inches tall now and almost an inch thick in the middle.

Updated!

(updated original post so it's got a current timeline)
Sorry any of you are getting sick of looking at my single shroom, but I'm excited as hell and shroomery is my only outlet.
*edit* oops, wrong pic!.

I picked about 120 grams wet yesterday since they were about to shat spores all over the place.
Then today I picked the rest.

339 grams total wet minus a couple caps I printed.
I've got the whole cake in a tub of water with cool fresh well water slowly running over it to keep it cool.
How long should I dunk it for?
I figure I'll dunk then put it back in its house, recase/patch the spots very lightly 1/8" or so then set it back into fruiting conditions.
My other tub has a much more even pinset :-D
