I've never seen one of them.

And yeah RR when i was looking at all the things i needed i figured Jars would be the easiest. :frown: Oh well, big lots it is.

One other thing, the light. I got the one everyone said to, but was wondering. What are people using to keep the temperature right? Is it the light? I don't think it is considering the bulb doesn't give off much heat at all but i could be wrong.

mycelium colonizes fine in room temp 70-80, but if you need to warm things up look up heatbomb, its basically a fish tank heater in a water bottle. If not incandescent gives off more heat then cfl, check those out, just don't use it for pinning, the perfect light for pinning is a "daylight" cfl in the range of 6500k range. You can pick them up just about anywhere, lowes, home depot, target, etc.

Thanks danielx I have a daylight cfl 6500k. The heatbomb looks interesting. I'll have to put one together sometime this week. I noticed it's for when your cakes are still in jars. What about when you have them out of the jars in a terrarium? Can I still use the heat bomb to keep them the right temp?

Are you confusing light with temperature, or do you mean color temperature?

Lmao, I'm probably just confusing them.

I just don't see how people are keeping their mushies at the right temp.

Did you try an ace hardware or other local hardware store?

My local ace hardware stocks TONS of mason jars year round along with some big 21qt presto PCs and RTV Silicone.  I basically get all my supplies from there

You do realize mason jars are kinda a seasonal item right?  Not many people do canning in the winter.  Walmart rarely carries them around here in the cool months.

ACE on the other hand carries them year around. 7.79 for a 12 pack of pints.

Sometimes ya just have to cough up the money and go online, that or wait. You can buy jars(Even by me where EVERYTHING doesn't exist) but they are seasonal so stock up when you see them, hardware stores are the most likely to have them though

Wal*Mart in the fish section for like $3. Puts off very low heat. Just whatever your comfortable room temperature is, shrooms will flourish in that... Somewhere in the ballpark of 70-75 is good. Some lights that put off excess heat will dry out subs. Stay away from incandescent light.

Edit: Aw damn, I'm slow... Didn't see page 2

"We have to create culture, don't watch TV, don't read magazines, don't even listen to NPR. Create your own roadshow. The nexus of space and time where you are now is the most immediate sector of your universe, and if you're worrying about Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else, then you are disempowered, you're giving it all away to icons, icons which are maintained by an electronic media so that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y. This is shit-brained, this kind of thinking. That is all cultural diversion, and what is real is you and your friends and your associations, your highs, your orgasms, your hopes, your plans, your fears. And we are told 'no', we're unimportant, we're peripheral. 'Get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that.' And then you're a player, you don't want to even play in that game. You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that's being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world."
