ive always used dvddecrypter + ripit4me to do it.
just run ripit4me, it will import some crap into dvddecrypter for you, and rip the disk, then open dvdshrink, pick main movie out, click 'encode' and your set.

You should check out the first link, and go to the 2nd if needed.
And yes, there are programs to join 2 video files into one.

if you used dvddecrypter, you can go into the settings and tell it to rip the main feature into 1 vob, instead of 1gb chunks, to make it easier to work with.
You can also rejoin with a program called vobmerge, or even the windows cmd prompt (windows im guessing..)

Thanks for the info, but the programs you mentioned just rips DVDs into AVI form, I need something to take the already ripped VOBs and turn them into a different video file.

This is not a warez site. I don't mind torrents, but no keygens or serial numbers, please.

What do you mean? A VOB file is a 'video object' file as specified by the DVDROM Video specification. It contains video, audio, navigation, and subpicture information using mpeg-2 system streams with private extensions.

Commentary, such as the directory talking about the film as it is playing? If so, it will be one of the audio streams. There are usually multiple audio streams for a given video in a VOB. There might be a 5.1 channel stream, a 2 channel stream, a commentary stream, etc. It would be a function of your ripping software to choose which audio stream gets encoded with the video.

i use nero recode for the encoding of different video types, but only since I had it. ffmpeg, mencoder, autoGK, should all be able to do it for you too.

it's really not complicated once you get the jist of it. join a torrent club, they usually have graphic how-to's. It helps keep them in business.

I,ve played around with free ones, and pay ones, but the only 2 products, I have used with 100% perfection the last 2 years are,
slysoft anydvd got to have to crack encryption
slysoft clonedvd to rip and burn, and it evens cuts parts out
if you want, or make a 100% perfect clone using the dual layer option.

Yeah, those 2 slysoft products work extremely well. If you rip a lot I suggest buying the products for future upgrades, it's going to a good company. I don't like spending a lot of cash on software personaly, but there are a few gems out there worth paying for.
