THANK YOU, even if this isn't my thread.
Others have chimed in, links have been posted, and I now see what you are talking about. thanks for not getting pissed and actually explaining your point. i can promise to try and spread information instead of MIS-information. Most of all, I hope you got as much out of this as i did civicracer.

unfortunately that is the nature of a place such as this. It is good that we are all able to ask questions and learn from one another; however it is the nature of learning and experimentation that everyone will assume their situation is rare and never been seen before.
Hell, i know i've posted some stupid ass questions on here before really really searching, only to delete them a while later after no replys were made, and the question was answered by doing more extensive searching (weeks of it!).
What's funny (ironic?) is that the difficulty in searching for good answers and information, is that there are so many bullshit posts, it's sometimes just easier to start a new thread. But i guess it helps add to the search results and to the specificity of the topic at hand.
Thank the universe for moderators!
PS, i've got some big fucking pins in my casing, and putting 2 and 2 together, after participating in this thread, it's probably from all the misting (5 times a day, 6 sprays each). I barely let that coir change color.

i didn't say not to mist casings a rolled cake, is pretty much a cased cake
atleast read what i wrote before jumping into OMG MISINFORMATTTIONZ mode
try not to be a washed up forum hawk and stop repeating what you've heard more important people say in attempt to look important
if you don't believe me, why don't you actually TRY something aka GROW something and stop blabbering about theory which you're the one with no experience
the fact is, if you allow water to pool on your cakes or casings, it will drown the mycelium and it will break down after about 48 hours
if this weren't the case, why aren't we all leaving our cakes in their dunk until pins form?
and in my experience (not theory) over saturation can be a terrible thing for any project at any point
if not, why do you mist? why not just pour the damn bottle on your cake?

you said cakes do not need to be misted.

i would advise that you don't let any water sit on your cakes

True, an overlaid casing is pretty much a huge cake. The only reason why cakes work and the majority of your guys casings is because cubes do not need casing. If you guys let some portabella get over laid like you do cubes you would get close to no fruits.

who are you talking to?? I hope not me. Just because I do not post pics of grows, which I would think is the smart thing to do, does not mean I do not know how to grow. There have been a few pics to pop up of my grows but they have been deleted after a few days. Some will remember the casing that I would let float around in the sink to show that direct water is needed for pinning. Some would remember this pic. Why would one have so much spawn?
Some would remember these pics. Why would someone cover up the names of the strains. Anyone with any experiences would know that there are just a few species that produce very white rhizomorphic mycelium like this.
you have any idea what this is?
do you think these grow naturally here?
you probably do not even know what they are

Yes that is some bullshit. A lot of people do that which makes readers like me frustrated. Whats the point of posting if only 3 or 4 people can

If you people are so god damn paranoid about getting caught use a dynamic IP which only costs 15 bucks a month.
