Ya, I have on of those too, but what I actually use is my welder preheat, because that's what it's for, heating metal.

A Volcano is a brand of vaporizer... Much like Mercedes-Benz (or your favorite) is a brand of car.
High quality from top to bottom, it's the premiere brand in the industry and used by medical clinics around the world. It is also expensive at the aforementioned $500+. Mine has paid for itself just in the sheer joy it brings to heavyweight stoners who think "I can barely get high anymore"... A few bags of Jack Herer, and you are fucking stoned.. no matter who you are. 
I've tried others, and like other cars... they drive mostly according to price. You usually "get what you pay for" if it's a name brand. They are adequate and really shine if you have medical grade weed. The flavor from a vape hit DESTROYS any bong/bowl/joint.
And then there are those homemade things... Never tried one, but with a qualified electrician handy I would probably give it a go.
