is my lc contaminated?

24 hours after inoculating with a spore syringe i see alot of (what looks like) mycelium particles floating around in my jar...i cannot tell whether its a contam or not...can someone list general features of a lc contam? thanks

throw a picture up, it'll make it easier.

But a contam will be a murky cloudy looking water where mycelium will be little threads or hairs working into puffballs.

sounds like contam to me, ususally it takes 48-72 hours to see some growth in an Lc depeneding on if you used spores or not, is the water still clear? and do the particles look like snowflakes in a way?

not that i can be all that much help... but did you use honey? my experiences with honey is that it creates sediment if it cooks for seconds too long... that said no way anyone can say without a picture...

yea i used honey lol and i felt like i did steralize it 4 to long...i shoulda looked at it more closely before i inoculated it...ill get some pics up soon

Looks like the good stuff.  However, you will never know for sure if your LC is contaminated until you test it out.

This is very true.. I recently made an F+ LC in a glovebox and was as sterile as possible.. 2 weeks go by and everything looks good to go.. So I made up 6 quarts of WBS and knocked them up 3 days later all 6 jars had green shit growing in it.. So I tossed the jars and the LC..

Don't do what I did it's a big disappointment when you find bad jars..  When you think the LC is ready test it out on a 1/2 pint or pint jar.. Not 6 quarts like me..  :whack:

How long since inoculation billy?  I can't wait to make my LC.  I was gonna start up when my current grow is finished in a few wks, but I was just thinking why wait? lol.  If I start in the next few days, I can have jars almost fully colonized by the time this current grow is done, and be ready to start my REAL grow.  Plus initially, I'm only gonna have to spend like $10-15 on some of those plastic jars, verm, and BRF.  :cool:

Ha your going with those glad plastic jar things from that other post huh.. I just purchased 100 empty bags from TMS.. I am gona start doing those cause I am tired of cleaning a bunch of jars..

Yup lol.  I wanna do a bulk grow, but I don't really feel like getting a PC yet - so I'm just gonna make like 16 1/2 pints which is 4 qts, and a nice amount to spawn to a brick of coir or something from WTS or HMC.

I'd wait a week total to use it.  And what do you mean by harvest?  Once it's fully colonized, you just leave it in the jar, and use as necessary [keep it in the fridge].  Once it's totally thick and cloudy, knock up a jar or 2 to test it out.  You don't wanna end up knocking everything and have it be contaminated.

thanks for the info...how long do you think if i keep it like at room temperature...since its the holidays my fridge is filled up and it will probably be that way for a while...so should i keep it in room tepmerature or can i like bury it in the snow?
