Theme tattoos

Does anyone have any theme tattoos? I'm getting my whole arm done in The Life Aquatic art. I started out with the Team Zissou insignia about a year ago. I'd like to see yours!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

I'm not exactly sure what you are thinking about "theme"? Fully custom sleeve?

I have a friend who has tons of characters from classic horror movies. Some folks do all Japanese style, or Star Wars or whatever.

I'm slowly doing a sleeve of characters from literary dystopias. I have Guy Montag and Napoleon the pig so far. Next will be something from Brave New World, 1984, and Atlas Shrugged.

There's a long story to it. Short story being... if you watch the movie, when someone joins team Zissou they get their red cap and speedo. When I toured as a musician, your first national tour was your red cap and speedo. Our van ended up being named the Belafonte, and we all ended up getting TZ insignias tattooed on some random part of our bodies in order to mark our first national tour. Every time we got ready to burn one and we were in a crowded room, we could just flash our tattoo across the room at the other band members and no one would be the wiser. It has many meanings. I just intend to go a step further and get the members, the boat, a "jaguar shark".. you know. I'm getting the whole idea of the movie represented in a sleeve.
And yes. I love that movie with all my heart. Bill Murray is my hero.

Super colorful, I love it. I can be sort of a bland character so I'm getting all of my tattoos colorful as well. Black and gray would just make me yawn more I think.

Maybe, but I don't want a royal tenebaums sleeve and it didn't have much relation to anything I've ever done.
But I can almost agree with you.

Thanks, it's all pretty much custom work too. I love it, a lot of hours, lots of money. I'm still not done yet. lol

Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion.
In my opinion, Bill Murray is definitely the man, but this is far from his best work.
Honestly, I think the movie is kind of a B movie. I thought it was enjoyable, but nothing to write home about at all.
However, despite my opinions of the movie, your explanation regarding your band's first tour seems completely reasonable. I especially like the part about flashing the tattoo as code for "let's go burn one."

If one thing stands true about tattoos, they aren't for broke ass people like me. I find a way though I guess. Do you intend on filling your whole back up? I screwed up and got a Derek Hess angel across my entire shoulder blade region and now I can't really figure out how to fill up the rest because the art is so unique / scribbly.

Not the entire thing, but majority yes. I want another piece on the bottom half then me and my artist are going to design something to join the two scenes.

I'm in the search for a good artist who doesn't charge 100 bucks an hour, but I think that's turning out to be the norm here lately.
Thanks Miami Ink. You douche bags.

That kicks ass. Mine are Norse mythology and cave paintings.
