PF Jars Wet.
    #9436475 - 12/15/08 12:32 PM (15 years, 3 months ago)

I screwed up and put too much water in my jars. Not TOO too much, but enough to be noticeable, mostly at the bottom of the jar. Its not like its sitting in a pool of water, but some of the cake looks kinda smooshy at the bottom.

How much of a problem will this be? I'm using pint jars if that makes any difference.

That could be a big problem since you are using pints which is not recomended.

Even with perfect moisture content and carefull loading of the substrate. The substrate will still compress in a pint jar. Thats why 1/2 pints that are as wide as they are all tall.

It doesnt sound too good. Overly wet substrate will cause slow colinisation and combined with being pints could well stall out. Which can even happen with perfect substrates in a pint.

I know, I usually take pictures but I woke up the other day and my camera was full of beer some how

I didn't think it would be a good thing. I can't seem to find any fucking half pint jars no matter how hard I look. Thanks for the input guys, I'm gonna just let them go and see what happens. If this fails I'm just gonna get my dads help and try out the pressure cooker.

I know this is totally unrelated...but rather than make another thread I'll just ask here and see if I get replies here first...can you use jars other than quart jars in a pressure cooker? My dad only has a 2 quart pressure cooker and hes doubting it will fit even one quart jar.

Thanks, if I don't get any replies I'll just make a new thread :P
