Oven and grains question
    #9413210 - 12/11/08 02:58 PM (15 years, 3 months ago)

I know there must be a good answer for this cuz nobodys using this method...but i wanna know why you cant just soak some sorta grain until the endospores hatch and then lay out the grains (after draining the water)on a baking sheet and bake them at 250F?

Wouldnt that kill endospores?

You could but then u would have to soak them again so they get there moisutre content back then that would add more bacteria and mold then you would have to bake again so on and so forth.. PCing them kills the endospores..

Soak 12-24 hour simmer 30-60 minutes drain and rinse then PC 90-120 minutes

You want a pressure cooker for grains, I could explain a few reasons why you can not sterilize grains in a oven but I'd be wasting my time typing it all out and your time reading it to be to the point.

Buy yourself a pressure cooker and follow the tek.

Well i already know i need a PC...but Im just tryin to figure this all out...

Damion5050...If you kill all the endospores but then soak them again youll just hatch new ones? Or would the grain now be subject to different types of mold spores and bacteria that could easily be killed by boiling?

It would be subject to different kinds of molds and bacteria that are floating around the house.. Especially sence your in the kitchen.. You could kill them by boiling but you still have a chance of getting them when boiling..

See the thing with a PC is that you create a sterile enviroment and the grains never see unfiltered air again until they are fully colonized..

You'll just end up burning or toasting the grains.

Good (if you germinated the grains beforehand) to make beer but not good for cultivating.
