stuff the patronizing bullshit.

I'm tired of one side in particular demonizing the other.

In reply to:

how many times have individuals given "constructive thoughts about the topic at hand" only to be answered by narrowmindedness and criticism not of the ideas, but for merely posting criticism? or to be told that they're coldhearted, inhuman bastards because they share their skeptical POV or don't blindly accept things that there is no evidence in favor of, and much evidence against?
the intolerance and closed-mindedness on the other side of things is just astounding.

Hey, it's just the more 'enlightened' exhibiting 'tough love' to the ignorant unwashed skeptics. It's all part of peace, love and understanding (from an elitist, enlightened point of view).

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

When you presume to understand the motivation of my post(s) without the proper information you make yourself in the camp that you are tired of.

I was merely extending a hand of friendship and trying to lighten the mood of the thread. I'll be more careful when and if I approach you again.

The fact is that all of us are ignorant in some respect, some more than others depending on the subject material. Arguing and fighting over the words posted here accomplishs very little. If it is our intent to learn rather than merely defend our own egoistic presumptions we evidence that by listening to other side's viewpoint and offering reasons why we disagree. Other than that we look like fools. I try to steer clear of such behavior whenever I can.

Cheers,

ok?
you're in your late 40's and I'm 18. rather than assume you're some whacked pervert or that you don't know that saying I'm "cute" and asking for "a bite of my candy bar" can come off as inappropriate flirting, I assumed you were just being a bitch and implying that my comment was childish.
either way, your comment was pretty retarded.

Either assumption is/was invalid.

1. I do not know how old you are. How could I unless I looked in your profile or on the Shroomery census? I have done neither. Your posts and your knowledge of science make you appear much older than you are.

2. I saw a photo of you with a Chewy bar. Hence, the comment was about it.

Now I understand why you made the assumption but remember that assumptions are tricky things particularly when they contain a high degree of subjective interpretation.

Thank you.

After this I promise to post no more nature pictures. If a lovely rainbow strikes terror into the hears of shroomerites, I dare not post the deer by the Yosemite waterfall photo...

In reply to:

I find that appreciating the beauty of nature through photography to be one few avenues that bring me closest to the divine (however you want to describe it). As synchronicity has been a major topic of late, maybe, just maybe, it portends a positive change in my life.

Swami, thank you for sharing your rainbow with this forum. I too enjoy nature
photography and feel the same as you have stated in the above quotation. I
really can't understand why so many people are getting bent out of shape with
your sharing.

Perhaps they were expecting sarcasm and interpreted your post with such
prefabricated expectations. I understood your "pot of gold" comment to
be genuine and not of a sarcastic nature.

It is obvious the rainbow touched you in such a way that words cannot bring
justice to the photo. The pot of gold is INSIDE you. The end of the rainbow
found a home within your soul. Now do what you can to protect the illuminated
treasure that others are attempting to criticize.

Best of luck to you in your new home.

Peace to Everyone,

Peaceful Nomad

As I have previously suggested, create a separate "loving support and agreement and encouragement" or "Koombayah" forum for those fragile (yet enlightened!) egos that cannot stand scrutiny.

*snicker*     hehehe    I love it!!!  I wanna post here so no one hurts my lil feelings.  And yes I am being facetious.  And you are correct, My reply has absolutely no amount of S&P in it.  But they are allowed because I am not on  THE LIST .  But I think I might be after this post.   This is not aimed specifically at anyone, more at people in general.
When people are insecure in their ideas and beliefs, then they assume that people are always attacking their beliefs, even when no affront is meant.  This kind of mentality runs rampant in this forum.  Swami or Schlorch could come on here and say "Hi" and someone would cry because "they meant it as an insult."  Maybe we  should  have a forum for the weakminded/hearted.  Then those of us scarred by life could test our thick skins against non-blunted weapons.  Just my 5 bucks worth.  Have a NICE DAY!!!
