A Fable.
    #939945 - 10/07/02 02:43 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Once there was a poor farmer on his way to the village to sell his wares. On the way to the village he spots something on the side of the dirt road. He notices that it is a small wounded bird.

He stops and goes to the small animal and finds that it is wounded and cannot fly. It is helpless.

The farmer thinks to himself," I wish there was something I could do to save this poor little devil, but if I don't make it to the village before sun goes down, I will lose everything I have worked so hard for."

He cups the bird in his hands and the bird tweets out. " I wish I could help you little fella, but I am in such a hurry."

The farmer looks about to see what can be done to save this creature. He then finds his answer. A pile of cow shit.

He buries the bird up to his neck in the shit and tells the bird that he will be back to help him and not to worry. The farmer leaves the bird in the pile of shit and hurries to the village.

Just then, a fox walking by notices the singing shit pile. And he notices the bird stuck in it.

"This must be my lucky day," he said to himself, and lunged at the pile. And in one fell swoop, he ate the bird.

The moral of the story:
The person who put you in shit is not necessarily your enemy;
The person who helps you out of shit is not necessarily your freind;
but when your in shit, you shouldn't sing about it.

I like it.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

I believe that it holds firmly to any situation where a person is at an ultimatum. Is the enemy of my friend my enemy or is the freind of my enemy my friend...it kind like that.

I heard it and had to share it with you. And it wouldn't have been a fable unless an animal spoke. There; You learn something new everyday.
