Fall Michigan Finds

heres some finds from this past fall.

i stumbled upon a small patch while out in the woods one day just going for a walk.

saw these in a clearing near some coniferous trees.

this one i found while working. it was growing at the base of a adolescent juniper and was in some landscaping. if you look closely at the bottom of this pic you can see the shadow of my arm under the cap!!!

my guess is amanita muscaria var. formosa.

the last pic - that one was gigantic. it was almost the size of a paper plate. it almost was as wide as my food dehydrator! i couldnt believe it!! i found quite a lot of a. muscaria var. formosa's this past season. but of course no pictures... womp womp womp...

Your amanita looks like amanita muscaria var. guessowii

formosa is the european version of guessowii, get a pic of the base of the stipe to make sure though.

there should be rings around the base of the stipe.

like i mentioned. i find these quite often in the fall here in michigan. so thats cool. i never got a picture of the base, but next season ill make sure to do so. thanks again!
