Pinning
    #939238 - 10/07/02 08:56 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

I am a new grower and I recently birthed my first two cakes about 7 days ago. I am using perlite and fish tank bubblers for humidity and the temp is at 75 degrees. I put my cakes in the fridge for 6 hours before birthing and still no pins but a lot of fuzzy mycelial growth. On the other hand I had some jars that colonized a little more slowly and reached full colonization a couple days ago. I took them out of incubation but decided to let them stay in the jars a little longer so the mycelium could get a decent foothold. I noticed today two of my jars had shroomies starting to grow in them. I was planning on dunking them and sticking them in the fridge before putting them in the grow chamber but I wonder if this is necessary and safe since I already have pins forming. Also is there anything I can do to help the cakes with no pins, should I dunk the cakes and put them in the fridge again or should I just hold off and be patient.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The cakes with fluffy mycelium is a good sign, they are progressing (might be slow, but they are doing what they are supposed to)  The ones with pins on them, let them BE!  After the first flush, dunk them then.  It sounds like you are doing well.  Continue to be patient
