Hey friends,
I tried to inoculate Rye berries with Cambodian strain Sryinge from spores 101 with no luck, i had fallowed RR Grain Tec, but i used polyfill not Tyveck with no luck, could i use some colonized golden Teacher BRF to get the process going? Would it work if i took a chunk of colinized BRF and put it in the Rye?

Spores101 spores are GARBAGE. Order from a sponsor. Also why are you calling RR out? lol

I can see what you mean - but what I'm saying is the problem was not in his tek, rather in using Spores101, who there's been about 15 disgruntled customers for in the past couple months.

I believe he was asking RR, because RR is an authority on the subject.
Fung, sorry man, I'd say dump the grain if the inoc failed. you COULD use some myc from another substrate, but I would just get rid of it if you already inoculated.

Just FYI tho, RR has said in the past he doesn't like being called out like this and usually ignores the threads. There was a thread that was going on and on a couple wks ago asking RR about something he'd supposedly said, and he never replied to it, lol. Not saying he's definitely not gonna reply to this tho, who knows.

Yes if you were clean enough. It would be like a Grain to Grain transfer. Just shred it up real nice. My monotub broke up and got fucked up and I did something just like it (except I just dumped it's original contents in) instead of starting off fresh like you. We'll see if it works for me. I had to be less than clean to get it done.
I don't see why this wouldn't work for you. Just be super clean bro.

I haven't had any problems with spores101. (They are the only ones that I have tried) The syringes don't seem like they have a lot of spores in them though. I would like to try one of the sponsors for comparison.

Spores101 is probably your problem, while i have read of people backing up spores101 from time to time, but the number of non succesffull grows outweighs the backing up. Even if you take into consideration noob mistakes, theres still a hell of a lot of spores101 failures.
Contact spores101 and tell them you looked under the microscope and theres nothing there.
You might get a replacement that may be viable.
Next time order from a shroomery sponsor.
Sporeworks and ralphsters are probably the 2 top shroomery sponsors and do good deals.
also, there are many experienced cultivators who are just as experienced and knowlegable as RR.

I'm a serious fan of Sporeworks. I've ordered from them twice, and both times received my order in less than a week.
Plus, they have good deals: $9 for one random, over-stocked spore-syringe. And, no, not some "old" syringe, both were packed with all sorts of spore clumps inside. ^_^ Definite fan here.

The Hawk's Eye syringes are powerful. Never a dissapointment. And they have PE.

I don't remember where, but I've heard PE are a little more... "picky" about contams, humidity, temp, etc. Any truth to this in your exp?

I haven't noticed any of that yet. Just keep everything within the cubensis parameters and you're fine.

i almost always use little 1/4 pint brf cakes to inoculate quart jars of grain. A glove box would help, dump the cake out get rid of the dry verm, put the cake in a bag and crumble it up real good. A half pint cake should be good for 3 or 4 quart sized rye jars, i do 2 jars with a 1/4 pint.

How much time do you think that saves you, as opposed to just inoculating the rye jars directly with a spore syringe?

Actually Ogre.. it doesn't save time doing the "g2g" style inoculation like Stimpy. In fact, it takes more time. The thing is, it allows you to colonize MORE substrate with less contamination rate (providing you follow sterile procedures). This is because when you inoculate with g2g or LC, it's already formed into mycellium and has some resistance to contam.
Also, it does provide a better harvest.
