nothing can be proven or disproven so whats the point?

This is most certainly a false statement.

Would you criticize a culture you've never been involved with?

Would you criticize a genre of music that you have barely ever listened to?

Would you criticize a person you don't know based upon rumours/physical appearance?

Why do you think it's alright to criticize someone's interpretation of a spiritual experience? These experiences are deep, meaningful and beautiful to the people experiencing them, and so long as they aren't using thier experience as an excuse to justify hurting another what harm does thier joy bring you?

Sleep researchers noted the similarities in symptoms between paralysis sufferers and abduction claimants. Some abductees claimed to be physically abducted at the sleep research centers where they were videotaped all night and shown to have never left the room.

This tends to demonstrate pretty clearly in these cases that the abduction experience is an internal state and not a physical event.

What harm does better understanding a phenomena cause? Why the fear in adding to our knowledge base?

are you implying that such experiences are no longer deep, meaningful or beautiful when they are deconstructed? it is up to the experiencer
if someone doesn't want their ideas/experiences criticized by skeptics, he/she shouldn't post them in a public forum.

No, they are still meaningful when they are deconstructed, I do this to my own experiences. Being somewhat skeptical can be good, but it can often get way out of control in that you aren't *considering* that perceptions could be skewed, rather believing that they must be.

As I mentioned earlier whenever I detect one of my nerves has been struck I look within to see why it hurts or rankles. The knowledge I gain from that helps me and others and is the true reason for my discomfort. Blaming others for what ails us rarely accomplishes the end we seek.

A very wise statement...

Ah, but does this lessen the validity of the experience? You might say yes, but some might say no....

Ah, but does this lessen the validity of the experience?

It lessens the validity that aliens have come from another galaxy to physically kidnap people which was one such hypothesis prior to this research.

I do experience sleep paralysis on a regular basis.....It started when I was fairly young 10yrs old or so.....  Back then I was a big Sci-Fi geek and I thought the experience was an alien abduction......

As I grew older I realized it was just the governmental mind control being enacted upon me

No seriously as I grew older and actually started paying attention when the paralysis happened....I realized that it was something else entirely and after doing a little research discovered the term "sleep paralysis".....

Perhaps swami has a valid point and many people are just so gung ho about being abducted that they turn something as annoying as this into someting else entirely....just a thought.

Thank you for coming forward.

Of course your personal story won't keep people from demonizing me for showing that their pet theories have a pedantic rather than a mystical basis.

did these sleep researchers test every single person claiming to be abducted by aliens? I dont understand how you can come to a conclusion based off 1 study.

their BODY never left the room... believe me, there is more to ourselves than what you see in the mirror...

there are more dimensions and realities than the phisical, material 3rd...
