indoor greenhouse question

hello all, OK so Im new to mycology, me and my friend so far have been successful with Brazilians, and we inoculated some B+ and some Ecuadors and also have a couple Brazilian going. We have a 4 tier indoor greenhouse, my question is when all the jars of all 3 strains are 100% would it be alright to grow different ones in the same greenhouse? we have a home made humidifier hooked up to the side of the greenhouse, could anything flow in the air from species to species, that would mess them up? or would everything be cool?

and also would a humidifier hooked up at the top shelf, blowing over just the top 3 shelfs with maybe 5 pans on each shelf be enough air flow or would they still need fanned a few times a day?

Get a cool mist humidifier and put it on the bottom tier/shelf of your green house.. And you will be good to go.

well the home made humidifier has a fogger inside of it so its cool mist, but the greenroom is gonna be in a garage with a heater hooked to a thermostat on the bottom shelf, do u think it should be switched around or like that?

so anybody? does that sound good or no? having a 4teir indoor greenhouse with a humidifeir flowing throw a hose hooked to the top shelf and a heater hookd to a thermostat INSIDE the green house on the bottom shelf, or should it be a differant way? i dont think like a mushroom soi dont know how it should go, i figure humidfier on top blowing cool mist over the casing and a heater from below with heat rising to top makeing thewhoel thing the right tem

im going to go out on a limb here and say no on the heater on the inside. put it on the outside .....only if your temps are like below 60ish ...id guess they would be alive but very very slow around 45ish, below that and id guess no growth and total aborts

What sort of heater is that? Direct heat isn't ideal, because despite the cool mist, it might cause your trays to dry out. I am using a tray with a 90W terrarium heating cable, hooked up to a thermo timer and covered in geolite in the bottom of my greenhouse. The warm air from the bottom will rise up in the greenhouse providing a stable temperature. But the heat comes from the warm geolite, not from a heater. It's more gentle. I am not sure if that would be sufficient for your garage, but you could combine that with a heater sitting OUTSIDE of your greenhouse. Just experiment, but no blazing heater inside the greenhouse.

yea been thinking about finding sumthing to make like a tubeing from the heather to the greehouse so i could leave the heater outside, but with the garage was iffy cuz of winter and didnt know if it would get to cold, the shelf should be in the mail today, so this is just an idea so far, only thing that is made up so far is the home made humidifier

There is no need to do all the fancy PVC work you can just put the coolmist on the bottom shelf inside the green house and it will keep the humidity at 100% As far as heaters you would want to get a space heater from like walmart that is powerful enough for a 10x10 room and put it by the green house..

ok, so i got my greenhouse in the mail today, set it up in the garage, and the pace heater outside of it, i took the thermometer from incubation chamber outside and it was dropping, and today was like 55 degrees so when snow hits hard im sure it will be way colder, my question is any1 have any cheap ideas to keep it up to temp. i was thinking fish tank heaters inside, but havnt put them in yet

was that the temp inside the greenhouse ? with heater on?
what i would do is get a fogger and put the fish heater in the bucket with that, makes a good way to dispurse the heat, because u also put some pvc pipe on the bucket for output and a fan for input

You have to heat up the garage somehow. You'll never stabilize temps inside the greenhouse otherwise. You need to have lots of FAE and if that air is cold it's no good.

well theres a home made humidifier with a fogger in it and i have an extra fish heater, last light when the fogger was hooked up for a test run, it seemed like it was losing alot of water pretty quick, the tub would get filled to about an inch or so over the fogger, then a few mins later it would be even with it, water was put in the tub prolly 3 times in an hour, so wouldnt the fish heater make it lose water faster?

Dude, that's an overkill. You are blowing too much water into the air. Hook the fogger up to a timer and have it come on for maybe 10 minutes every hour. I have a humidifier designed to be able to humidify more than one terrarium at once. It has a 5 liter tank and will last for 8-10 hours without a refill.

yea it will be going on a timer, it was just hooked up to see how long it would take to 99% humidity, but thank you its nice to know how much time it usally gots b4 a refill, i was gonna say, going to refill it every hour will start to be a bitch lol, but the fish tank heater wont make it lose water faster? or do you not have one in yours?

I had some of the same questions so this post is helping me out too. So basically if you put a cool mist in that size greenhouse you only need to run it 10 minutes an hour? Just wondering cause I've read other posts and they have TWO cool mist running non stop at the same time. Seems like a lot to me. in my basement, which i would guess stays between 60-65 does anyone think I would need a heat source? the problem i see with the heater NEXT to the GH is it would end up heating the entire basement wasting a huge amount of electric. one more question- what about fresh air? would i need to install a timed fresh air intake in a GH? this is my first time using a GH so I really appreciate all the help from everyone, this will save me a ton of time.

A coolmist on the bottom shelf of a 4 shelf greenhouse will keep the humidity up above 95% as far as how long to run it per hour I am not sure..
You want room temperature to be 70-75 degrees.. So get a space heater of some sort and set it with a foot or 2 of the greenhouse..
Fresh air all you need to do is take a knife and cut a slit in each side of the greenhouse from top to bottom.. Well don't cut all the way from top to bottom or you will cut it in half but you get my point I hope..

buy biggest bucket u can so u dont have to fill it much, u set it out side your greenhouse, use pvc to connect it to it, then u use a fan to push the fog though the pvc . fan placement and design is very important, im talking powerful pc fans on dc converters by the way

all your supplies and tools layed out take less than a hour, the hardest part is buying the stuff and cutting the pvc, and design,. if u do a search using agar as the user name and searching foggers u should find a nice writeup to give u the idea what needs to be done.
i cut a hole i my bucket lid will a circle cutter on a drill. then i had a pvc fitting with threads on it and a cap that has a hole in it, so i just screwed it into my hole and put the cap on the other side

PVC is easy I am a Heating and Air Tek.. So I know alittle about running PVC.. Just sounds like a hard setup compared to a coolmist on the bottom shelf lol.. How long do you run the fogger for in an hours time ??

actual havnt ran anything as my greenhouse of edibles is impossible to clean thoughly so i have to do some redesigning. been down for a year so my mind is a bit foggy:)
i can tell u one thing for sure u get at least 2x the humidity and lots more fresh air this way . the fan setup is a bit tricky because i put a square hole in the top of the bucket and just layed the fan over that at first
it worked great but the fan gets wet that way so i made a box out of styrofoam and offset the fan this works to but water puddle up a little under the foam and top of bucket a bit , not anything to worry about with my particular setup
as for time on thats a guess because i cant remember, im thinking like 3mins every 15mins or something like that
but u need to know that really doesnt matter as that changes ALOT based on FC size , room humidity , ect. but again bottom line is u will have more humidity than u want with this

Ok now another nub question, first off, k i had a little 19qt tub that was being used for the casing, and there was a strip light sitting next to it, and there was a few of the shrooms that grew laying down, towards the light and the ones standing were leaning towards the light. k now to my question, the green house is about to get put in use, and not sure where to put the strip light, my question is if i hang the light over top the green house, the top layer will get light and stand straight up, so the other 3 shelves will be getting light from the sides and back and from front, will they start to grow towards the walls and push out on them? any1 else have a 4 tier greenhouse? how do you have ur lights? is this a problem for any of you?
