Syringe Needles

Hope this is the right forum. Does anyone use blunt syringe needles? I dont see any need to have a sharp one. Though it could be handy to have it sharp in a few situations.

I was thinking of looking at them on a slide under a microscope... but I think a 16ga needle (even blunt) would pierce tyvek/micropore. Anyone tried it?

I would think a blunt needle would cause greater damage to a self healing surface. A sharp one would be neater. Kind of like surgeons or high end chefs needing really sharp, like fiercely sharp, knifes. But that just makes sense to me maybe.
I'd like to tack on another question to this needle post: I heard that needles have a universal fit, is this true? Would one be able to use the needles they get from a vendor on a glass standard 10cc syringe?

Yes, they will almost all be luer-lok or leur-slip, if you have a threaded syringe, get luer-lok needles, if not get the slips.
Also, good point about the sharpness.

Well I tested tyvek and micropore. The blunt 16ga pierces both with ease, I mean literally the weight of a syringe will pierce micropore and tyvek just needs a little push. If you have the needle red hot it will pierce either with no pressure, but I don't think melting tyvek or micropore near/in sterile jars is the best idea.
So to anyone looking at buying syringes/needles in a covert manner, I suggest you ask for blunt needles, you know the kind you can't inject yourself with...

Blunt needles are bad for cloning.

I meant for the people who were discussing buying them locally (no records) and not wanting to raise suspicion. If you don't mind buying online TMS is an awesome place to get em.
Also, I poked a blunt one through a mushroom today and it pulled out a nice chunk. It's not like it is not rigid or anything, mushrooms are very soft to poke through.
Just wanted to share my findings.

FYI- you don't have to pay by credit card and no records are kept on mail orders. Most sponsors here have the option to mail your payment for maximum discretion.

Which state do you live in? My friend called Walgreens in Seattle and they claimed not to carry them.

Are you sure? My buddy called a Seattle Walgreens and they said no. Do you live in Washington?
Don't get me wrong, I believe you though since their are lots of idiots working in our world and am not sure if my friend spoke to some shmucko clerk or a pharmacy clerk.

I ordered mine online from some discount medical supply deal. I got 100 syringes and needles for less than $20 or so dollars total (shipping and handling, too).
I just wasn't comfortable buying these items in person.

I know I can get needles at Walgreens, but I need something bigger than a diabetic needle. Do they carry big long generic syringes?

No stores, except perhaps a farming store, will have syringes or needles just sitting out. You definitely will need to ask the pharmacist. Tell them your dog had surgery and needs antibiotics that are given locally or some other bullshit like that. And have a piece of paper, pretend to read it and be like "the vet told me to get a 5cc/10cc syringe 18ga needle". If you look over 18 and you play the part well, you should have no problem. Just be relaxed and convincing. Hell, if you don't want to lie, I'm a vet and I say you need it for your dog. Now go get it.

Not every pharmacy will give people syringes with needles without a prescription. Laws vary from state to state and even city to city. I can buy syringes where I am, but can't in the next county over. Yes, our lawmakers know what they're doing

I opted for 16ga 2.5" needles. Overkill on the length I know, but they work amazingly for jars. I don't think you can get em in a store though.
Haha in my state they are required to sell sterile syringes with needles for $0.50 ea in like 10 of the cities. They don't want disease to spread between drug users, so they give out (basically) free needles! Woo. I don't live in those cities. Sucks.

wait so u can just go to ur local walgreens and get em? damn wish it was like that around here, cant buy em at walgreens unless u are known as diabetic and a sharp one will run about 60 bucks on the street, but im not into that stuff so u may be talking about bigger needles then im thinking, i know some1 thats diabetic and can sell a needle for $60

yeah, junkies normally use 1cc syringes with tiny ass needles. if youre looking for big ass syringes, normally they dont give a shit, cause what junkie is gonna shoot up with a needle thats as big as my earrings.
ive got tons of 21 guage needles if anyone wants them.
the guy at the pharmacy actually told me that people use them to paint. I personally use them to make tie dyes, and as glue guns and grease guns for my model boats .

I was wondering, what's the odds of being able to reuse the leur-lock type syringes? I'm surprised more newbs don't ask about syringes. I'm lucky enough to know someone in the medical industry, but they can't very well take the whole box ya know?
Any chances of being able to re-sterilize some of those plastic leur-lock syringes?
