An Omen
    #936272 -

Just moved to another state and saw this from my house after a long and arduous journey. This MUST be an omen of good fortune. Pardon me while I go search for my Pot o' Gold.

You've really gotta stop mocking people for seeing the interrelation between the beings of the earth. We all have different beliefs and perceptions, stop being an ass. You don't have to share beliefs with anyone, but making fun of them is ignorant.

Taking the time to recognize the beauty of nature and sharing it with my friends is being an ass? Whom am I mocking by taking a photograph?

Thank you Swami for the beautiful photo and the message dealing with spirituality.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

My friend.

With all due respect. Other people(not me), might see that comment as sarcastic mockery of many people's beliefs here. Other people(not me, mind you) might be getting frustrated by what they perceive as you "playing dumb" when confronted about it.

But hey, that's them.

i just took what was posted by swami at face value, why make something out of nothing if it's not explicitly stated?

I didn't. Other people did. Take what I said at face value.

And when the pot of gold appears will you mark that down as synchronicity?

Thank you for sharing that photograph. It makes me hope for you. If the transition went smoothly I am pleased.

There have been three times in my life where rainbows marked a transition and each one is remembered although some are nearly twenty years old.

1. While near the end of my stay in Long Island I drove home from work just after a torrential downpour. The cars in front of me where throwing the water up off the road creating rainbows behind each tire of every car. It was magical.

2. Upon arriving in Colorado a huge rainbow appeared in the sky just days after I settled in my condo. Shortly after that I was inviting to watch a sunrise over the plains in Boulder. My life has never been the same.

3. Just a few weeks ago I was fishing on a charter boat in Lake Erie. The water from the wake behind the boat caused a rainbow to follow us in all the way to the dock. That fishing trip was a first in many ways and the rainbow amplified the special significance.

While I do not think that rainbow are strictly omens I do think that they can sometimes be markers to certain changes in our lives. My empirical reasoning says that when I am about to do something, or have done something, that alters the major components of my life I am more aware of my surroundings so I am more apt to see certain phenomenon, i.e. rainbows, etc.

My intuition tells me that this explanation is incomplete.

Cheers,

The pressure is enormous. A good explanation or exhile? Before I answer know that you have opened a can of worms with your directive. To be a fair and honest moderator and not just targeting people that you don't care for, you must remove the "I am Drunk" thread (and believe me I will find many others that are not even remotely spiritual by any stretch of the imagination.) I don't mind playing hardball if you want to go after this innocuous thread. Make sure that everyone in the future justifies their thread as well so as not to show bias.

I find that appreciating the beauty of nature through photography to be one few avenues that bring me closest to the divine (however you want to describe it). As synchronicity has been a major topic of late, maybe, just maybe, it portends a positive change in my life.

Now I patiently await your wise and benevolent ruling.

And when the pot of gold appears will you mark that down as synchronicity?

Dunno. As I said in another thread, there are no "rules" for synchronicity or omens. How many hours, days, years does the omen have before it hits the expiration date? What exactly is good fortune, finding a penny or hitting the MegaBucks for $12 million? Without a yardstick it is extremely hard to measure success or accuracy or any other quality.

Thank you AJ. Guess it took a fellow hardcore skeptic such as yourself to see it as it really is.
