I beleive one must not be narrow minded about anything. I have seen demonstrations of these things, such as ki. I have done it myself accually. Everytime I think I know something about the world, my understanding changes.

Many people have had illnesses and not had their mind's changed, but schlorch will? I would wager otherwise.

If I were narrow-minded I would not have spent thousands of hours and dollars checking these things out. In 30 years, every mystical claimant that I have investigated has failed to make good in front of me.

Chi isn't a trick. So I'm told... Of course I've been told many things that weren't true. Chi is often paraded as being something that works quite well... I wonder if it works better or worse than the placebo effect.
If you ever get an illness you'll change your mind.
Knock on wood I won't. *knock knock* Why don't you change my mind on someone who is already sick? If I had the cash, I'd have every Chi Master (or whatever you call him/her) visit every patient in the local hospital. I'd bet them their plane tickets home that no significant effect could be noted. Of course, none would take me up on it.
If I ever have the cash, I WILL most certainly put such charlatans on the spot. It would be worth me buying many round trips to heal the sick.

Chi.... or Qi as it is now spelled... is real.
It is an ancient and very advanced knowledge. Qi has the power to heal... or destroy. In martial art applications qi channels or cavities "pressure point", are used to disrupt the nervous system... Similarly these same channels can be manipulated that produce healing effects via accupuntcure or massage. Of course.. the healer or martial artist must know exactly where to strike and what effect it will have. This requires a vast knowledge of the qi cavities.
Qi is an energy, produced by humans and all living things.

Riiiight. And where is it they offer Ph.D.s in Alienology?
I have a relative in a foreign country that practices acupuncture on animals. I read his ambiguous-at-best patient files... nothing concrete.
I think this anecdotal evidence is QUITE sufficient... what do you think, Swami?

It seems to me you are trying to find everyone a mistake or something. You reply just to some non important things like grammar and stuff. Also state things wihtout knowing anything about it. Chi might not exist it's something I personally not proove but those women healed were real! What do you have to say about that? What about what I said before that in the post? No mistake? And Yes, I am not a born English speaker. That doesn't mean I am a FORIGNER! Is the shroomery english or american? SEE YOU SHROOM!

I have always taken the acceptance of acupuncture into major medical facilities as evidence of its efficaciousness. Would you care to comment on that?

Can only state my own experience. I did five treatments for back muscle spasms and got no relief. They were somewhat expensive and not covered by insurance. So with not even the slightest improvement, I discontinued. From my limited experience, I would guess placebo effect as the practitioner herself told me five treatments would make a marked difference.

when i lived in china, i went to see a group that practised a form of tai-chi known as 'push-hands', two practioners stand at full arms reach and touch the backs of their right hands together, the idea is as one pushes, the other retracts so the push is neutralized, playing with force, they call this force - chi. the chinese character for it means 'breath'. (btw - the tai in tai-chi, means 'great') i had a try with one of these guys. he was smaller than me and skinny. we took our places, with my elbow slightly bent, i placed the back of my hand against his. he didn't seem to move anything but i was flung backwards into the air as though had given me a huge electric shock. i landed on my back 3 meters away. bastard laughed. this took place in a large field, there was nothing but grass in the vicinty. i saw my kung-fu teacher bend and snap spears by placing the point against the soft part of his throat, below the adam's apple, and the shaft into the corner of the wall and the floor. then he puts his hands behind his back and walks forward until the shaft bends and snaps. i trained with these same spears for 3 years, it takes a bit of power to snap them. he explained it by saying he directs chi to the area the blade is pushing into, to make the area firm and resist the point.
also saw a guy in zhejiang prefecture do the same trick but with an inch thick steel bar, sharpened at the throat end, i picked up the bar afterwards, it was heavy and i couldn't straighten it. ( i guess i needed swami there to identify the sleight of hand)
so having been knocked on my ass by it, i wouldn't like to deny the existance of chi.

Yeah..so here are some Shaolin monks in their third year of Qi gong training... doing some Qi energy exercises... channeling Qi to deflect blows..
pretty standard really..

Yeah... I'm quite familiar with the Shaolin practices... as well as other performance artists (ie. magicians).
Nothing amazing... just physics, practice, and a little bit of fairy dust .
