Myco-bags
    #934841 - 10/05/02 03:42 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

This process for growing mushrooms is one of the easiest ones by far there is only one problem I am having.  I understand that all you must do once you recieve the bag is unfold it and inject the spores and put it inside a humid dark place.

My only question is does anyone have a tek I could use to build some type of storeage for my bags so I could control the temp and moisture of the bags.  Also what is the temp I must keep the bag at for the best results?

Any advice would help.  Thanks!

Im just starting an just got my first myco-bag. Everyone told me that around 80-85F is ideal for growing them. I just put mine in a shoebox with a padded heatpad under it that keeps it at a steady 85. I have to work kind of stealth so its what worked. I innoculated 2 days ago and already see some white stuff yay!

Just build a incubator using a styrofoam cooler and a fish tank heater. Its dark in there and you can keep your temp in the mid 80's. I've never used myco bags, but I assume they need a temp in the mid 80's for optimum colonization.

Krazy--
Did you inject the spores into the middle of the bag?

Yes I did inject directly into the substrate, why would this affect the colonization??

Think about it, if you inject the spore water into the direct center of the cake, probably nothing would grow. Re-inject where the bag is touching the substrate. It'll colonize faster. Personally I never got any results from injected into the center of the substrate, but great results from injecting it on the edge.

Inject sterilized water into it, it worked for me. My bags are fully colonized.

How long did yours take to colonize, and how much water did you inject. And what kinda temp did you store it at??
