Cheap .1g scale

Alright, I know there are other posts about scales but I couldnt really find a specific answer. Is a $10 digital .1gram scale from ebay good enough for measuring shrooms? (not rcs or anything) Or is it just a waste of 10 bucks?

Yeah it's fine for just measuring shrooms, and ok for just measuring green. But if you ever get any RC's, coke, hard, meth, etc... You need a slightly better scale. And also i'm not sure how accurate the 10$ ones are, or how well they hold up.

You could make your own that would be about as accurate with a few pennies and a coat hanger. Or go to a headshop. Just an idea.

Digital scales usually are pretty accurate and stay that way unless you drop it a few good times. I've found from personal experience that it can throw it off a little bit. If it's guaranteed accurate and in good condition though, I'd say go for it. Plus, it's only $10. A cheap scale is better than no scale. But, The penny-hanger is always fun to craft as well like mentioned above.

It will be fine. Shrooms vary more in potency than digital scales vary by weight unless damaged.

Just check if things weigh out.
A nickel will show up 4.9-5.0 on a good scale. A dollar bill will show up as 0.9-1.0

Bah. Got the scale today, and it doesn't work. It said it needed calibrated, and I was like shit! because I don't have any weights. So I get 60 nickels together (a story in itself...) and try to calibrate it. Now it won't let me do anything, not even turn it on except when I take the batteries out and put them back it. So I called the place I bought it from and they're sending me a replacement. yay! But then I got it to turn on, I went through the steps for calibration, placed my 60 nickels (it said to calibrate it at 300g) on and then it just reads overload. How could this overload a scale with a capacity of over 500g?

A buddy of mine told me a little secret...American nickles weigh about 5 g's each. Calibrate your scale with them I got mine on ebay too, for $10 and it has never done me wrong.
Edit fuck it. Lol. You guys got to it first.

IF YOU NEED TO CALIBRATE A SCALE AND YOU DON'T HAVE A CALIBRATION WEIGHT For example, my scale. First it flashed "0.0" grams, then after i've let the tray sit empty for a few seconds, i press "cal" and it flashes "100.0" grams. If your scale is like mine, and you can't select how much weight to calibrate it to, you'll need about ten minutes and a clean quarter. Using your uncalibrated scale, measure out the required calibrating weight (ex. mine is 100 grams) in bb's or nuts. Then place the quarter on the scale. When the scale is calibrated, the quarter should register 5.67g, or 5.7g depending on your precision. If it registers a lower weight than 5.7, then calibrate your scale to a sample weight LESS THAN WHAT YOU CALIBRATED TO BEFORE. If the weight is higher than 5.7, then calibrate to a weight MORE THAN WHAT YOU CALIBRATED TO BEFORE. In other words, we don't know whether or not the calibrating sample we're using is 100 grams, but we do know the quarter is 5.7 grams. Since the scale basically finds the equation of a line between the two calibration points, we can play around to calibrate to the quarter. A TIP: Generally if your scale is off by a half gram when measuring the quarter, adjust your calibration weight by about 1.5 grams. (ex. my scale read 5.4, so I removed two bb's, or about half a gram off my calibration weight, then it read 5.7 after calibration to the new weight) You can also use air-soft ammo to test your scale. I like testing it against 4 or 5 0.2 gram pellets. hope my post makes sense! Cheers.
