Question about becoming teacher after arrested for MJ Possession

So I have really been considering majoring in English and do not know if I will be able to with my arrest for possession. I received 11 months of probation and my record will be expunged as long as I complete my probation successfully. I know it sill depend on what state I teach in; however, I will probably be leaving the current state I am in to live in another. I will most likely end up in California. Does anyone have experience in this situation or can anyone offer any advice or their thoughts.
Thanks

Yeah, I was busted for possession under 30 grams, was told to stay out of trouble for a year and it would be stricken from my record. Low and behold I got a job that required me to go on to military bases and they needed a background check and it came back clean. I would say just wait, then apply for the teaching position. I'm not totally sure what will happen in your state though.

If the charge is expunged then the charge will not show up on any background checks.
If the charge still shows up on a check after expungement you can file a writ of mandamus demanding that the charge be removed from whatever agency that still retains the record.

I had a felony possession for a controlled substance (lsd) in a drug free zone a while back and I can still teach if I want, substituting or regularly if I changed my BA. I've taken an orientation to teaching class but decided it wasn't for me. 10 years of not getting decent employment that I still carry a chip on my shoulder about (it was only five hits) until I payed the money and had it sealed/expunged. It's worth every penny and I'd pay the final explotative fee and be done with it when your eligible.

The problem is that some states have only half assed sealing/expungment processes where they make the records available for certain purposes. One of those purposes often cited is contact with children and licenses related to such.
If I were this guy though I would look up the expungment statute or whatever and find the exceptions, if the exist. They should be written in the same section if the law is put together coherently. Other place to look is in the licensure section.
I'm sure this is avialalbe online.

Good advices above, check to be sure your record has been expunged, sometimes they forget. Is there a free way to check your own background? All I have seen is pay sites for private investigators. I would like to see what my record shows before and after my expungement. I recommend the OP check his/her background prior applying for the job to be sure everything is cleared. btw, When I was a high school student, my pot dealer was an elementary school teacher . Good luck with your teaching! Remember you're forming the future of civilization!
