Question about dunking.

im keeping PF TEK jars in my closet in a carboard box to colonize at room temp (60-75 degrees)
they are about 1 week from full colonization.
when they are ready, i plan to scrape the excess verm off, fill the jars with water, and place into the fridge for 12-24 hours (dunk/coldshock) at the same time.

my question is..what kind of water should i use?
tap, mineral, spring, etc...?
do i need to boil the water and let it cool before i use it?

SO, other than over saturating your cakes and giving contamination a great foothold, what exactly is dnking your colonized cakes in water supposed to accomplish? The colonzed caked )assumming the substrate was prepared properly) allready have enough moisture in them to support several flushes.

if you read the tutorials on dunking, dunking the cakes will increase the yield, and size of the fruits.
furthermore, you should look around this forum a little more, and you will see just how many people DO use the dunk method.

I don't see any problem with dunking/cold shocking at the same time, but I've never done either, so I can't really be sure... Also (according to www.fanaticus.com ) the more water available to your shrooms, the bigger they get, but they aren't as potent when you dry them...

so now im re-thinking the whole thing..
i dont really care if there small, the potency is what im after, so are there any veterans out there that can give me alternative advice in regards to doing this?

should i dunk them?
