hi everyone.. long time lurker, first id request/post. now as far as my mushroom knowledge goes, i can pretty much rightly identify all the local mushrooms around my place. (Melbourne, Vic.) I'm pretty positive that its a coprinus of some sort.
Habitat: under the cover of overhanging trees in my backyard. growing in fairly dry dusty soil, which has recently been softened by rain over the past few days.
Gills: attached, dark Grey/black colour.
Stem: varying from specimen to specimen... around 2cm-7cm approx.
Cap: light brownish/tan colour, very thin and brittle.
Spore print color: the gills are very dark black, so i highly assume that the spores are as well. (currently doing print.)
Bruising: no bruising is evident...
Other information: hmm... generally very brittle, and the scent is a general mushroom/fungi smell. some of the larger specimens stems and caps had a bit of a rough surface, and a few small white dots.
here are some pics;

ill try to upload the pictures of the spore print asap.
i just thought it was nice to find a few mushrooms fruiting at this time of year.
thanks.

ahh it looks like your right. from wikipedia; "Psathyrella is a genus of mushrooms and is similar to the genera Coprinellus and Coprinopsis, usually with a thin cap and white stem." well my guess wasn't to far off, as its closely related to coprinus/coprinellus.
After just a few hours of sitting on the paper, the spore print is already very thick, and dark Grey/blackish. sorry the pics are taken on my phone;

The pics are pretty bad dude, just check the print colour for yourself. If you're sure the print is a good solid jet black, then probably Coprinus atramentarius. If the print is purple/black, then probably a Psathyrella. The pics look like they could be either.
