Jogging: knee pain - aggrevated knee

So im running off and on - nothing intense or consistant.
However, my left knee often hurts after a quick jog. For the remainder of the day it hurts to walk upstairs + straighten.
Im going to try a knee brace.
Anyone know whats up.

MY sister tore a small ligament in her leg, and this sounds like what she had. I can't remember the medical term for it.
Get a MRI or CAT scan whichever they do I can't remember what she got...It's probably something like that if this has been going on for awhile. If it is the surgery is shit...It's nothing big, or you could always just say you can't afford it and they will give you meds to deal with it.

Be VERY CAREFUL with your knee. Nurture that thing. I got big into running last year - absolutely loved it - it was doing amazing things for me internally and physically but I got addicted, very addicted, and pushed myself too far too fast. I really fucked up my knee and could hardly walk for weeks. I had to use arnica gel for awhile and iced/heated it, kept it elevated.
Turns out it was both my shoes and my posture while running. Proper shoes can correct your running posture. Really do not hesitate to help yourself with this. I'm just now (six months later) feeling like I can start jogging/running regularly again with no pain.

First off Id get it checked by a doctor/chiro. You could try strengthening the quad muscle as it runs through the knee. I think squats or a leg press will do this but if you want to isolate it use leg extention resistance. This invovles keeping the top half of the leg still while extending the lower half against resistance.

This happened to me after I tore my ACL and MCL in my left knee. When I started running again I got pretty bad pains. I agree with what christofchristof said, only thing that helped me was re-strengthening the knee with weight training.

you just described exactly what hapened to me, i started jogging last spring and went too far, too fast without the proper shoes.... well its now almost winter and both knees are finally starting to heal. I would like to get back to jogging once they finish healing but i would be very scared to injure them again

Why not try Heavy Hands if your knees are an issue? Heavy hands is where you swing weights as you walk, it gets your heart rate up nearly as high as running. I have a pair of three pound and five pound weights I use. Women, I would recommend starting with 3 pounds. Men, should probably start with 5.
