One by Metallica is one of the best songs in the world, stoned or sober. I shit you not.

Phishdude named the best of Phish, ABB, and Dead. Here's some others.

Porch Song-->Disco 12min. (roughly)
Widespread Panic

Discotheque (all of disc 1)
Gatecrasher (1 hour of continuous trance)

The Blood and Tears (Live) roughly 20min.
Steve Vai (bootleg, hard to find)

Tweezer (Oswego Camp Bootleg)
Phish

Clifford Ball Bootleg (Phish) is great too.

You're all wrong...the single greatest song to listen to while trippig or being stoned is:

SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND by PINK FLOYD

in fact, the entire WISH YOU WERE HERE cd is great to listen to...

My favorite disk to listen to tripping is Dicks Picks volume 6 disk 3. IT starts out with some spaced out DRUMMING into the SPINACH JAM into THE OTHER ONE into STELLA BLUE into SUGAR MAGNOLIA into US BLUES. It changed my life when i listened to it on headphones frying on liquid. It was like i could here voices in the crowd being amazed at what the band was pulling. I could not only hear the music, i could see it with my eyes closed. Entangleing and combining into a wall on sound. I wish that disk sounded like that all the time. GIve it a shot on headphones, they really bring out the surrounding noises on live disks.

I'd definately have to say one of the best long jams is Paul Oakenfold Live from Ibiza. Him and some other good dj's like Paul Van Dyke did a series called the essential mix. Each set take up a whole cd, and its really cool to listen to the whole thing at once, feel the tension build, and have no stops in the music for an hour.

Shroomerville

Ummm, I don't know what to say about this. I have a friend who recorded it for me. Do you have Hotline? It's a computer program (free). Download it at www.bigredh.com There's basically a bunch of servers on there you can access, and download MP3's and full programs from. I downloaded the entire Oswego show from one of these servers, and I've seen the Clifford Ball on there somewhere. It just takes a while to try to find the Phish servers. To get a list of servers, go to www.tracker-tracker.com

Clifford Ball was amazing. I was right up front when Page took the intro to Bathtub Gin into his own hands. How'd you like the Clifford village? I helped make those buildings. Next time you head to one of the two day shows on the east coast, come to the Flatbread Pizza booth. Maybe you'll see me. I normally work at the outdoor venues. Ask for Oswego.

The live version of "The End" by The Doors. I actually dig it more then the studio version and it's like 15 min. someone mentioned echoes, I agree there. Riviera Paradise by Stevie Ray Vaughn. It's kinda jazzy and mellow.about 9 min.

Oswego...by far it was the greatest show of my life. I was in one of the buildings in the village, and started playing with this hair I thought was attatched to the wall. It totally freaked me out when I discovered that it was a hole in the wall and some girl had her hair dangling through it. I haven't been to any event since then that has been so well organized. Great job!

wtf? Blasphemy in this here thread. To quote the words of the above..."Watchtower cover by Dave Matthews is tight, but the original by Hendrix is even better."

JIMI HENDRIX DID NOT WRITE ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER!!!

It was Bob Dylan, for christ's sake. I'm sorry, but once my gf drug me to a DMB concert (I HATE DMB) and I actually heard someone say that during watchtower - "dude, this is a hendrix song".

as for the best music to trip to, it's all about the dead. try:

5/12/74
Truckin -< Nobody's fault but mine jam -> other one -> mind left body jam -> row jimmy row (about 45 minutes)

5/2/70
St stephen -> cryptical -> drums -> other one -> cryptical

peace.

Live Dead the album!
Also check out some live jazz, like Mingus at Antibes, Eric Dolphy, Miles, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane has a lot of good live stuff like Birdland and the Village Vanguard
Paul Butterfield East West is I think the first jam band type jam and is awesome.
Moe.'s new live disc is good too
Frank Zappa has some really incredible jams on his live albums Make a Jazz Noise Here, Lather, Best Band you never, You can't do that on stage, New York, Does Humor belong in Music, Roxy and elsewhere.

Other great jams are on Yessongs, Blues Traveler Mountain Cry, live Robin Trower (check out all Govt Mule fans), In Memory of Elizibeth Reed by the Allman's, Deep Banana Blackout Rowdy Duty, Medeski Martin and Wood's Shackman, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones Live Art, and Neil Young's Weld is incredible.
Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother
Grateful Dead Terrapin Station!

okay, guys, this is pretty simple:
Phish:
You Enjoy Myself (any show, ESP. the ending vocal medleys)
Piper (not off of Farmhouse)
Bouncing Around the Room (i'm a sucker for this, but when Trey, Jon, Mike, and Page are all singing different parts, its insane)
2001
Wading in a Velvet Sea

Allman Bros:
In Memory of Elizabeth Reed

Stone Roses:
Breaking into Heaven (This one is incredible, it starts out with these jungle/Eden sounds and then breaks out into this funk-rock song)

Chemical Bros:
Underground Sunshine (okay okay, i know that this isn't 'jamband' material, but i'm not even that big into trance or techno or whatever. This song WILL take you to another universe though)

Led Zeppelin:
Kashmir

Bela Fleck:
Flight of the Cosmic Hippo
Stomping Grounds

PHISH PHISH PHISH!!! The name whips me into a verbal frenzy. YEM makes my heart skip for joy at least 3 times, every time I hear it. It is truly one of the most incredible songs ever written. Trey doesn't pause, or skip a beat once during the first few min. of the song. It's just a continuous happy jam. I like the feel-good jams. Stuff like Suzy Greenberg, Philler Phunky BITCH!, Wilson, Makisupa Policeman melts my heart. In fact, I'm going to start a thread about this. Tomorrow, that is. Right now I'm too tired.

Excuse me, but DARK STAR!

DARK STAR!

It's not only great by itself but with other songs too like on DP 16

Dark Star>The Other One>Dark Star>Uncle John's Band Jam>Dark Star>St.Stephen>The Eleven 55 minutes without stopping!

Also, I can't believe no one mentioned this:

Bitches Brew by the one and only Miles Davis

The first two songs, Pharaoh's Dance and the title track are both over twenty minutes long.

Herbie Hancock- Watermelon Man off the Headhunters album, wow!

It is my opinion that all TYPE O NEGATIVE songs jam.
They go on and on forever and when the song finally stops it blends into the next one. Most of TON's songs are seven to ten miniutes. My favorite albums are Bloody Kisses, and World Coming Down.
They do the best covers too, Like "summer breeze" ,"cinamin girl", "paranoid", "light my fire", and of course "day tripper"..........
( see them live, it's even better, you get to jam out with them, and look them in the eye).......

Phish's 'Bathtub Gin' from Hampton Comes Alive. So many Phish songs are spectacular, but this particular version of gin is particularly nice.

Live ween is great to trip to. They do some good pink floyd and doors covers, but their original stuff kicks ass too.

Vallejo (off of paintin' the town brown double live cd) is somewhere around 30 min and all full of trippy chants, plus they were on mushrooms when it was recorded.

A Tear for Eddie- any live version will trip you out.

Voodoo Lady- Again live versions are great, all jammy with this squawk box guitar thing goin on.

LMLYP- About ten min in the lyrics stop and then there's jam for 10-30 min.
