Einstein A Father of Science Believed in GOD...

Many people believe that scientists are against religion and that they rule out all traces of god through their work but this is not the case and is clearly as it always has been ...simply a matter of your own personal faith and beliefs even the great Scientist Einstein believed in some form of higher power though it's form wasn't how many religions percieve "god" to be. Now out of all the people of this world speaking towards scientists one of the last people you would expect to believe in God would be Einstein really he was the last one for me at least..... if you don't believe me here are a few tidbits of quotes....... I can post sitings if you wish as well.
"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings." This is a direct quote of Einstein himself followed by yet another quote
"Our situation on this earth seems strange. Every one of us appears here involuntary and uninvited for a short stay, without knowing the whys and the wherefore. In our daily lives we only feel that man is here for the sake of others, for those whom we love and for many other beings whose fate is connected with our own." ... "The most beautiful and deepest experience a man can have is the sense of the mysterious. It is the underlying principle of religion as well as all serious endeavour in art and science. He who never had this experience seems to me, if not dead, then at least blind. To sense that behind anything that can be experienced there is a something that our mind cannot grasp and whose beauty and sublimity reaches us only indirectly and as a feeble reflection, this is religiousness. In this sense I am religious. To me it suffices to wonder at these secrets and to attempt humbly to grasp with my mind a mere image of the lofty structure of all that there is." Einstein's speech 'My Credo' to the German League of Human Rights, Berlin, autumn 1932
Just some knowledge to ponder I guess....... sorry if it's useless but now you know sumthin right...

Many relgious people see threads about evolution as a personalthreat to their religion.

Indeed he did, however his idea of God is far different than that of mainstream religion. I am glad you posted those quotes, I think they do justice toward his true feelings of God.

That quote is my all-time favorite of Albert Einstein's. It is found in part on the PBS documentary of him.

Yes, and many people see religion as a threat to their evolution.

Good thread.
His beliefs about God closely mirror mine. Here's my favorite quote of the two:
In reply to:
"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings."

God does not play dice with the universe.... he said that too. it looks like he was disproven according to quantum mechanics...we ..or our grandchildren's grandchildren shall see....

quantum mechanics are only theory also, einstein even said he didnt fully undersatnd it....but, it is a theory that makes the MOST sense, even though it fails when it comes to some things, thats why there trying to find the universal theory that makes sense of it all...

I often wonder why the sense of the mysterious is often degraded with metaphysical theory. Einstein was brilliant, but he wasn't perfect... he still desperately clung to his encultured concept of God (that's where the "dice" quote originates).

Ah yes... the fabled GUT or Grand Universal Theory... now called Superstring Theory (more or less). It's weird that Hawking can't accept Heisenberg... why oh why would he have a problem with "sometimes things just happen" (rather than "everything happens for a reason")? Oh well... when the string theorists all die off, science will hopefully delve into more realistic matters.

encultured? man... you should take a look at germany's culture back in those days... whomever came up with such a concept of god was inmideately(sp?) cursed out of church... einstein's ideas and concepts about god or the higher power were in NO WAY originated in culture...
oh! and einstein WAS perfect... we all are... you just have to see the perfection

Okay... we're going to have a semantics battle... whatever...

Was he Jewish? I'm pretty sure he was. And I'm pretty sure they believed in a God... though I could be wrong on that one. So his definition of God was different... he still needed to believe in one.
oh! and einstein WAS perfect... we all are... you just have to see the perfection Right right.... maybe Mr_Mushrooms can help me on this one. What's the name of that (epistemology?) theory that everything's perfect just the way it is? Whatever... I'm not knocking him. His picture's on my friggin' wall. Why don't you just argue with Aristotle that he disagreed with his teacher?

There is a little metaphysical in every perspective.
