My camera is a Sony DSC-P30. It is a 1.3 Mp camera w/ a very nice and quality macro feature. The camera is discontinued, but I am sure their newer models are just as nice if not nicer. I paid $300 for mine last Christmas.

Check this one out,

I could not determine if it has a macro function. It appears similar in features to mine however. Plan on spending another $100 in accessories to make the camera practical. I'm off to school now...good luck!!

if you want to go digital and spend some money, the nikon coolpix series are awesome. i have a coolpix 995 and it takes images down to 2 cm from the subject. i paid $800 about 1 1/2 years ago, but they go for MUCH less now. 3+ megapixel resolution, built-in flash, full rotating lens construction, etc. i shopped around a LOT before i decided on cp995. i've got about 2500 shots from it so far with no problems.

I second to that... I have also Nikon's Coolpix 995... I paid about $737 this summer of it. Best digi in that price range.

I just bought an 3.3 mp olympus c-3000 refurb (the only way to go) for about $300.  It has a macro feature that is very easy to use.  You just press a button on it and it zooms in closer.  Check it out, its a great camera.  I would post a picture i just took with it strictly to show you the macro but i havent been able to upload pics as of late

edit your message. if "thumb_" is in the picture file name, remove it and you should get the real size.

Have a Kodak DX3900 (easy share)
has attachment for +7 and +10 and +17(together). Also wideangle and telephoto +2 optical and +3 dig (I think). 3.1 MP and can compress them to increase storage capacity. I get like 350 pictures on a 96MB card ( I am doing it from memory, but check it out.)

A cheap macro solution are the close-up lenses that can be attached to the front of the lens of any kind of camera.
