I think this depends on the person, I'm far more likely to be amazed by science than art in all honesty. Science is way more fascinating to me.

No, I dont necessarily agree. I dont think science is universal or removed from the human angle. Thats a tough one though, there is no obvious answer.

Well, simply in the fact that, though art can improve ones mental health, there is other ways to do so. Science is going to save me from nasty viruses, replace my limbs, medicate me when necessary... so on and so forth. Science.

So what is most meaningful is that which prolongs the duration of your life? If it were discovered that people who spend all of their waking hours watching television commercials live way longer than people who actively participate in reality, I suppose that would make watching television commercials the most meaningful use of one's time?
I could easily argue that a short life of high quality days is more meaningful than a long life of days with no quality whatsoever.

Well collectively one of the most important aspects of life, if not the most important, is love and emotional connections with others(this in fact inspires much of art). How would you like it if half of our mothers still died at child birth and our fathers died in their mid twenties due to the fact science didn't exist so in order to upkeep society they had to work back breaking jobs? Not to mention all the kids who would die at birth. Going back...in that sense above we would never know our parents, probably have cynical views about the world, most of us wouldn't appreciate art but instead be working all day, making unrewarding friendships, probably waiting to go off to war at the tip of a hat.
