"Toys in the attic" by aerosmith. The whole album is good. So is Diary of a Madman from Ozzy. The last time I tripped and we listened to the aerosmith thing, we got into some great discussions of the different "toys" people kept in their "attics" pretty funny and enlightening.

I think any music that means something special to you is good while tripping. At a time in my life I binged on acid and I was going through a tough time in my life, so I listened to my favorite death metal band Morbid Angel... the first four of their CDs in a row and created the most meaningful & complex piece of artwork I had ever done. It felt like it was the right time to listen to that music so I just went with it....
It's only been 8 months since I have done that and I can look at this drawing and it really makes me feel better, it explains so many things to me symbolically that I didn't even realize until now. Don't hesitate to do what YOU need to listen to. Your music is your music, it may not work for everyone but it helps YOU discover YOURSELF.

a good song (very intense) while tripping is called COME TO DADDY by the APHEX TWIN...makes your mind feel like some mechanical machine ,,,its nuts!!!

MOONSPELL - k *
THE GATHERING - My Electricity
ARID - Little Things of Venom
...and of course anything by BRIAN ENO and PINK FLOYD!!

* MOONSPELL is actually a black metal band so don't buy the album(the butterfly effect)
if you don't like metal. Although "k" is a very quiet and peaceful song which reminds me a bit of Brian Eno's works.

The pink floyd is great, but you should listen through the whole albums for maximum effect.

i like to listen to phish when i trip. you can get into the music and just relax and chill. pink floyd is amazing too because of the dreaminess of their songs. really, whatever youre in the mood for is good tripping music. hell, you might feel like country(sucks) so listen to it.

Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother-the last 2 tracks are great. Great samples of assorted breakfast sounds (rice crispys crackling) in alan's psychedelic breakfast.

There's a song by Jefferson Airplane, but I don't remember what it's called. It's all about Alice in Wonderland and one of the lines is like "and you've just taken some kind of mushroom..."

a couple that made my trip pretty enjoyable last week were, "Rosebleed" and "Happy" both songs are off Mazzy Star's cd entitled "Among My Swan" They're pretty peaceful ,tranquil like.

Any music that speaks to you, in any state is great. My tripp favorites are:
Radiohead: the tourist
Radiohead: blow out
Anything by Mr. Bungle (check it out if you have never heard of them)
Anything by the Deftones.
I am not sure why I enjoy the deftones when tripping, it is fast, heavy and disturbed music, but it made up of raw emotion. Maybe that is the atraction.

and of course: you gotta have the floyd, no trip would be complete with out it.

I also like Radiohead, MAssive Attack, Aphex Twins.....it all depends on what you feel at the moment
My friend once played me Gwar while we were trripping....Let's just say thats the closest I have ever come to a bad trip lol. but he thought it was excellent...

If your looking for some good mello music to listen to while your trippin' or whatever..

You got to go with MOBY... I love his Play CD... awesome shit.

and also some other good bands to listen to are.. Radiohead, Pinky Floid (The Machine) song... and well what ever you feel like becasue if you like what your hearing then well it is good..

'Dark Star' by the Grateful Dead. It can be found on the CD Live Dead, but tapes of lon-n-n-g versions from live concerts (like those that I regularly tape from David Ganz's radio show) are the best! [I can't believe that no one noted the original psychedelic band!] :smile: Also: Check out Garcia's first solo 'album' (1972) entitled Garcia. It takes one backwards in time, beyond birth to... (the cover has an arm reaching out of a nude females navel). 'Far out man!'

I love pink floyd 3 song come to mind while tripping. Set the controls to the heart of the sun, Saucerful of secrets, and echos. Another great band is Emerson,Lake, and Palmer. there old stuff of course.

i wouldn't say there is a best song for me. it all depends on my mood and the mood i'm looking for. i always like something that tickels or rearranges my internal organs:

brian eno - golden hours
aphex twin - on, polynomial-c
plastikman - konception (richie hawtin is not as contrite as his overuse of "k" suggests)
pink floyd - on the run
