yeah its been talked about several times since then as well, but nothing has come of it. i think the great outdoors should be moved AND renamed. i am all for a homesteading/wilderness survival forum.
I support this. I'm sure 95% of the reason no one posts in that forum is because it's a sub-forum. Not to mention a subforum of a specialized forum that requires pre-reqs to even be able to see it in the first place. So people don't even notice it.

I petitioned the admins to see if they would consider bringing the forum into the main list.. we'll see if they bite.

btw I saw a mention of gatherings.
While it is camping, it isn't really primitive. Nothing wrong with that, though. I'd rather have a good time than be all cold wet and covered in june bugs.

primitive doesnt mean sleeping on the bare ground in the rain lol(well it CAN). all primitive means is that there are no punlic utilities like water, electric and bathrooms. tents, gas stoves and other things can be used with it still being primitive.

When I think of "primitive", I think of "primitive" man. In my mind that precludes the use of any commercially made equipment that is technologically beyond what a hunter gatherer would have had access to.

Yep. Most primitive people don't even use modern knives.

i dont know anyone that goes primitive camping that doesnt at least bring a good knife. i mean it is good to practice things without a knife in case youre ever stuck without one.

Well, true, but people bark and debate requirments just like any other specialized groupd of people.
Some go out without any clothes!
But even basic primitives don't use tents and shit.

I think a quality knife is ok. While primitive man may not have had access to that level of quality, he certainly had access to a knife.
