I don't know this method but as with all innoculations you're best off leaving it in the dark at approximately temperatures of 85F. Leaving it in light might encourage it to prematurely pin, this does not mean you can't get it out every now and again.. just don't leave it permanently in the light.

As for quantitly of colonized grass this isn't a definite number case. The more substrate you case the more mushrooms you are going to get. However that is a very large casing and I would advise that it would be better for you to seperate it into several smaller casings. Obviously you need atleast a decent layer of substrate 30x40 in that container so you will need a fair bit. Can't say how much though, that really depends on depth of substrate, something you should look at the faq for information about.

That being said I would try to do smaller casings than that, a casing that size is going to take a while to be ready and its like you're putting all your eggs in one basket if you get what I mean.
