just tried salvia divinorum,
didnt get anything spiritually uplifting  from the trip though....it was too intense and too fast  to remember much.  i remember becoming a tree, then water.  during the 5 min trip i do remember 'people' standing around looking at me,  that kinda scared me for like a second,  damn, that shit is powerful.

has anyone else here tried this and what SPIRITUALLY did you get from your experiences...?

salvia is WACK... and powerful... but i must say i didn't have any spiritual experience on it... not once... unless you call your bed talking to you something spiritual... well i guess it depends on what it says...
shrooms on the other hand... *sighs*

This brings up an interesting point.

Both Salvia and mushrooms can induce brilliant hallucinations and perceptual shifts, yet salvia doesn't provide any "spiritual" message. Maybe this is due to it's molecular structure.

Remember my comments about a neural switch?
I think a similar neural switch (circuit/pathway/whatever) might exist for that "spiritual" feeling that is often experienced on mushrooms and rarely (I've never heard of it) experienced on salvia. Maybe salvinorin can't interact with those receptors, but tryptamines can.

thanks, yeah, that makes sense....salvia justs get you f'cked up....i was reading some other trip reports just now, and it seems seeing 'people' while on this is quite common....i wonder why?

Yeah all of my experiences have been just about like that. I've done Salvia quite a bit (15-20 times), each time trying to find something of value there but I have always come up empty. I've tried it in a variety of set and settings and every time it brings me into this fantasy world where I encounter bizarre landscapes inhabited by these entities, but the entities have nothing of interest to say. They speak quickly in garbled tongues, don't have time for me, and are always interested in something else. At first its incredible intensity and complete replacement of ordinary reality intrigued me but as I did it more it became increasingly unpleasant and a waste of time. When I do it I always look forward to it being over so I can actually get something done.

I respect the man that can find something beneficial or even pleasant with Salvia because I sure as hell can't.

I can't say that I've had a "spiritual" experience on Salvia, but it is used religiously by the Mazatec indians. Salvia is much more sensitive to set and setting than mushrooms or any other drug, so maybe we can't really tap into its power sitting in the apartment with all the distractions.

I don't know exactly what I experienced on Salvia. It might have been a supremely spiritual experience - if it was, I don't remember it. All I know is that Salvia is way too powerful to try to control the experience. If you "try" to have a spiritual experience, it will probably escape you.

Salvia will decide what kind of experiece you have.

check your local headshops, i know i can get 5x, 7x, 10x, and even 15x at a few around me....but be warned, it is extremely intense :smirk:

If you want to grow your own, you can get a rooted cutting relatively cheap online. I'm going to give it a shot once I move into my new digs.
