moving to vermont, need advice
    #9172445 - 11/02/08 01:19 PM (15 years, 3 months ago)

I was laid of from a job i hate here in Michigan. Without anything really going on here, I will be moving to Vermont with my brother who is attending classes at NECI in Montpelier. I would like some advice on maybe were to look for a place to rent, and I definitely need a job. I know that there are few jobs to be had out there, but as anyone in southeast Michigan can tell you, their  very scarce here. So i guess what I mean is I know that this is not going to be easy. But I really need a change! If anyone has any advice please hook me up!

If anyone knows of a possible job please let me know, i would be most grateful:grin:

btw i leave in 3 weeks

Check out craigs list, and facebook for apartments, there are always college students looking for someone to sublease their place. Allot of times you can get a free month or two of rent that way too.

There may not be a lot of large companies in VT, but off the top of my head I don't believe the unemployment rate there is that high.  Vermont suffers from an aging population (read: no young people) which is nice because there's a lot of opportunity for such folks, but it can be difficult to find other young people to connect with.

That said, Montpelier is a cool city.  Probably rediculously small by most peoples' standards, but there's a lot going on (per capita).  You won't be too far from Burlington (UVM), the Northeast Kingdom (bud), or New Hampshire (cheap cigarettes and booze, no sales tax).

what kind of work are you looking for?

Yeah, Vermont is a very sparsely populated state. I can't really imagine the job market being very good at all there right now. Although winter is approaching rapidly, maybe you can get a job at one of the ski places. I've always wanted to drive one of those big ass slope grooming machines.

Vermont's nice, high cost of living though. Have to pay for the beauty lol

Then I drive away in my solar powered piece of shit car, cool stuff man.

And then I go kill a bitch because the flaming orb in the sky told me to do so, and I don't know, oppress a few minorities here and there in the name of nuclear fusion?

Religion is fun.
