Remember, if you guys actually read my last topic, I had mycelium growth difficulties with 4 of the jars I was planning to incubate. Well, this morning I went to go take a look at my jars on top of my refrigerator cabinet and spotted no signs of growth. Well, i got frustrated and turned them upside down and I exposed space of air about an inch high. Afterwards I put them back in there usual place and right now when I took the jars out again I noticed two my jars were growing mycelium. I added water to the jars before I noticed (about 7 cc) with a syringe full of sterilized boiled water, I was wondering if water harms mycelium growth. Can anyone answer my question.

Well the bottoms of the jars can get too compacted and slow mycellium growth, or if the water content is too high at the bottom, it will slow as well. When my jars look too wet, I flip them with good results. That strategy can be hit or miss based on the underlying cause.

Wow, didn't know that. Read all the FAQs and never found that kind of strategy before. Brilliant.

Haha you got lucky and found the answer by accident. Just like how I figured out you can shrink or magnify a webpage by holding down the CTRL key while using the mousewheel, discovered that quite by accident.

its not a strategy, flipping jars has never been proven to have any effect.
If your substrate isnt too wet, correctly loaded into the jars and not compacted down plus in jars that are taller than they are wide, with gas exchange. Your jars wont slow down or stall.

Yikes veda... So negative! We aren't in the business of proving anything here. We are all simply sharing experiences. Some people have had success with getting a stalled (or slowed) jar to get moving by flipping.
Not everyone gets water content right and loads their jars perfectly on their first shot. I, for one, would rather try something risky with a stalled jar than admit defeat.
