hole size doesnt matter much nor does placement as long as you supply the most FAE as you can without loosing your desired Rh range.
if you use small holes you need more if you use big holes then fewer are needed.
I have used both 1" and 2" holes for the same size tubs and they both worked just fine pending on how loose or tight your poly is stuffed in the holes regulating the FAE and Rh flow.
this is where an analog hygrometer comes in handy.

thanks, i put four two inch holes on each long side. why analog? i have another question, one of my rye jars that i want to spawn, still has a section of about 1/2 inch square the is not colonized, and two other jars have pins in them, i have read that one needs to wait until its 100% so i just want to know how strict that rule is?

analog hygrometers are adjustable and can be manually calibrated for accuracy.
digitals tend to fail above 85% Rh or they arent accurate above it, cuz moisture and electronics dont mix.
Ive spawned jars like that without issue, just smell it first to make sure nothing funky is going on.

Either work well, don't use both. Try to get paint suit tyvek not the enveloppes (which are thicker)

Hey Shroomery, i finally registered here huh? Ive got a good ammount of WBS and am planning on making some jars with a new pc i got and then trying my hands first time at a casing. I originally intended to do 60/40 coco coir/verm but I changed my mind to the 50/50 + casing tek but upon reading over it again i saw it involves perlite humidification... I was planning on doing this in an old aquarium and just keeping it sealed and misting.
This will also be my first time using WBS, ive only made a couple BRF cakes, so are the WBS cakes actuall cakes, that you could fruit say in a shotgun terrarium? Im just looking for the best tek to case my WBS jars in a singe bin/terrarium, thanks

if you're using wbs i would suggest to spawn to to your coir/verm mixture in a monotub. instead of trying to fruit it as a cake..

it will work but paint suit works better yes. I myself use polyfill because that way i can stick a needle through the top without having to worry about holes i might poke into the tyvek. Good luck with the grow!

Cubensis does not require a casing, please read more info on the subject. You will learn far more from reading through the subjects instead of asking one off questions.

your casing is a non-nutritous layer put on top of your colonized substrate/grains that forms a micro-climate to help initiate pinning.
usually mixed of peat moss/verm with a lil gypsum and lime for PH. spagnum can be used in place of peat but its not the recommended type.
what r u casing? a bulk sub or cakes or what. it would help to understand what you need.
casing will help you get good pinsets for a good flush but wont increase your overall yields with cubes.
jiffy seed starter (premixed casing mix) from wally world is $4 a bag and you just add water to bring to field capacity then pasteurize/sterilize and add it on top of your colonized whatever you got goin.
