Thanks for posting this, I could use all the info on growing I can get. I was wondering however... I recently saw a method for fruiting that requires running soaker hose through a mix of water and perlite at the bottom of a cooler. The soak hose is then attached to a tee fitting that is connected to aquarium tube and ran out of the cooler to an aquarium air pump. Is this a proper method for Psilocybe Cubensis? It sounds like it could work. Can perlite be substituted for crushed cinder block? Any help would be appreciated. N.R.S.

This thread has been extremely helpful so far. I just started my first grow on 09/11 and im hoping for the best. Just wanted to say thanks to all the experienced growers on this forum that helped me get the most up to date information before starting my project. Hopefully i will have some pics up in a couple of weeks to show my progress and how well you guys explain the teks and procedure. Once again thanks for the info and the insight.

if only a slight amount of air exchange is allowed in a rye grain jar, will mycellium still develop as quick?

Helo There Folks,
Can I have a question?
I'm waiting for my growkit which will travel to me in some days. As the weather is cold, I fear that my package is resting in the weekend in a cold warehouse. As it is a growkit, it contains mycelium and I fear that it will die in the cold warehouse. What do You think, will itt survive? (I think there won't be colder than 10°C). The type of it: Psilocybe Cubensis B+.
Thanks a lot for Your answers.

Just a quick question. I have my jars and am currently waiting on syringes before I can inoculate. Now, I boiled my jars yesterday, and they're sitting in a drawer being sprayed by lysol at least 3 times a day. Do you think it'll be necessary for me to boil them again between today and tomorrow when I get the syringes?
Sorry if this is a newbie question and could be found somewhere else, I couldn't exactly fit my question into the search engine, so I tried to reduce spam by posting inside this thread.

Hmmm, no need to spray with lysol if you have a barrier layer. I wouldn't have let them sit prior to inoculation for sake of the sub drying out and so on, but you're probably okay for a couple days until you get the spores. Don't boil again.
Honestly, I would just make new jars once I got my spores. You'll cut down on possible contams that way. As a noob, you're probably antsy in your pantsy to get shit moving along, but one thing you need to learn with this hobby is patience. If its done right the first time, you don't have to do it over again.
A PC is probably the best investment you could make right now. I got mine for 30 bucks.

Well, the jars have been sitting in that sterile drawer and I haven't touched them since boiling them. Would the substrate layer dry out? I mean, the only difference between them now and later when they're inoculated is they have the spores in em, but the spores don't cause hydration.
Idk, I'll probably end up just making new jars, but its gonna be a pain scraping out the verm and such. :/

some let their jars set for a week b4 they inoculate them, so I think your good as long as you dont let them sit longer than a week.

Leaving overnight and sterilizing tmw should be cool, but I would get in the habit of filling jars, then sterilizing without letting time lapse in between, leaving to cool overnight, inoculation in the morning. Its a nice way to start the day.

I have a whole thread on trying to indoor cultivate libs cuz they dont like to grow indoors. if you know something about them that we dont please check out the thread and if you dont know anything about them besides they are sweet here's the link anyway.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10977263
feel free to post any Lib grow attempts in that thread if you want to share with us Lib lovers.
(Libs would be an extremely difficult first grow if thats what your planning)

so i checked a couple of my jars and the substrate seems to be drying out. would it be safe to use sterile water and a sterilized syring and inject the drier jars with a couple cc's? this dryness has seemed to stall mycelium growth and i dont know if its too late to salvage them or if the h2o injection would help..any advice is greatly appreciated.
