Be careful, as it will take more than a few days to colonize the
top of the cake and until that happens tilting jars can cause
the verm layer to shift.  (I think that this is why I lost my
first cake to mold)

For me, even with GT spores, it was about two weeks before I felt
comfortable moving my jars around much.

(BTW: my responses are really most useful when they bring out the experts)

I can add that I tired of my PE6 cakes not doing much
and so I crumbled one into poo+verm+gyp and have gotten
several fruits. (in the meantime the cakes are starting
to fruit, but the tub is on its second flush)

I think he's right.  I do not think that you will get to
15 grams with those.  (BTW: this is a good first dose amount)

Good luck!

LOL...I think that anonjon was right on the other thread.

Picking it now and going for another flush is a good idea,
or you can let it grow for a while.  It is edible.

I believe that syringes are the one case where distilled
H2O is recommended.

Good luck!

JD

...then there is the long-term storage tek.

...and I used it with my dehydrator, to prolong it's life.

Well, tap is fine for soaking grains, making cakes, etc.

Well, I built a flow-hood and skipped making syringes.

...but one approach that seemed smart to me, that I think
Doc recommended, was to put the syringes, full, into a
quart jar and PC them.  You can put a jar of water in the
PC too, if a GLC is the goal.

...but your scheme sounded good too.

Take care,

JD

I have to think that that might work.

i dont know what water would be better for making my substrate, will the water from a well 800ft down(i drink this water everyday)be better than normal tap water(also reasonable quality)?.
the thing is i see a little green algae or mold on the spout of the well tap, this makes me think of trich, or will sterilization of jars kill any potential contaminants?

The water is not a critical issue, unless you are making
syringes.  Sterilization will handle whatever it adds.

Good luck,

JD

I agree.  I have 9 quarts powering down in the PC right now.

I will not be able to inoculate them* until I get back
from a scouting event with my wife and son.

Seeing as I expect them to stay clean for the couple
of weeks that it will take for them to be fully colonized,
I am sure that Sunday will do.

Good luck!

JD

* I intend to do 3 ATL7, 3 Semperviva, and 3 Cambodginiensis

I have jars of these three already going, but they are
very cool, and I am sure that I will want to do a few
more experiments with them.

Thanks,

$6.99 a 3-pk with $5.99 flat rate shipping no matter how much you buy.

I finally went for three of these 3-packs.

I will try Damion's formula, finally.

Thanks to all (HL?) who made this link available.

This means you 13:mushroom2:s

(even better as your berries are only better hydrated)

Good call Base.

I remember when I first read Doc saying that he puts a piece
of Tyvek onto the inside of the lid too.

I had to ask him to verify....as it seemed odd for some reason.

Onward and upward,

Just an idea, but something I have seen, this can mean that your
spawn had a bacterial contamination.

Good luck,

If you are trying a new strain that you have no experience of, then
I would advise caution.  (1-2 grams)

You may be a major sky-pilot....but then I figure that you would
not be asking the question...

Take care,

Have you checked the accuracy of your hygrometer?

They are often not too accurate in the very high Rh ranges.

Take care,

P.S. Thanks for the RR donation reminder in your sig.

I finally got around to dropping the $5 there.

I hope to afford the videos eventually, even if I am figuring out most stuff as I go.
