Should I cover the casing while it colonizises, I've not found conslusive info on that.

oh yes! you want the substrate to build up co2. allow gas exchange only, just like colonizing jars. and dont peek too often, this will decrese the gas levels which you dont want to happen till you start fruiting. edit: you can cover with a clear wrap. poke holes in the clear wrap\cover those holes with micropore tape. this way you get gas exchange, your co2 builds upp, and youcan see it colonize without opening it. otherwise your bulksub gets fae and stalls thinking its time to fruit prematurely.
