People who don't know anything about psychedelics say the experience is a "hallucination" (manifestation of the mind) and is not actual valid reality.

It is a manifestation of the mind, though... the point is that the mental experience is still valid.

I dont understand how the idea of 'validity' can be attributed to an experience? Can you provide an example of an experience that is not valid? So that I can try to understand...

Well my friends that don't trip have come to the conclusion that everything you experience while tripping is distortions of sobriety, and there for distorting valid experience, and therefor not 'real'
I disagree.

Good luck with that. Clear explanations around here are as rare as chupacabras.

All mental experiences are definitely "valid".
How it reflects sober, waking consciousness and how it compares to existing social opinions or current interpretations of reality is the bigger question.

I think every experience is valid, in that every experience provides a valid opportunity to learn from.
Although most straight-edge people consider validity to be contingent on the objective reality of the experience (which IMO does not exist).

So if all experiences are 'valid' and there is not such thing as an invalid experience, you really say nothing when you qualify an experience as valid. So every time you say 'valid experience' you could just say 'experience' and convey the exact same information. Thats exactly what I thought, thx!
(my opinion, you guys are just throwing that word in front of 'experience' in an effort to justify your belief in the relativity of reality)

Can we learn what reality is not? If so, we can hone in on it and thereby narrow in on defining it objectively.

Why not, the "internal" world is certainly capable of it.

Has anyone ever thought of the universe as a living system, and we as humans are a part of that system much like cells in us. And that the big bang was just the 'cracking of the egg' for the life of the universe.

Dude, haven't you read in the philosophy forum before? Thats basically (save 2 or 3 members) the unanimous belief of all the posters here.
